Lloyd, Newport, Holy Cross are in a 3 way tie in district play. Can anyone explain how the RPI might shake out?

  • Come on man... Nobody can ever just beat Mayfield, right?

  • Not even saying that Mayfield wouldnt be a favorite if they had a Murray rematch, they would. Murray will even have to beat Caldwell just to get to that point. But i'll say this: Murray has played May

  • You have to remember, this Murray team was told over and over they could never live up to last years team because of the amount of senior talent that left.  Their former head coach and DC jumped ship

Who does that say more about Murray or Mayfield or a combination of both.

Both of course!

Without looking at it closer, my guess is that tiebreaker will be determined by Newport. Lloyd leads in RPI and is not playing. Holy Cross plays a 1A team that has 3 wins. Newport plays a 3A team. If Newport wins they will get the KHSAA class ratings boost and move past Holy Cross. If Newport wins, I  think Holy Cross is the 4 seed. If Newport loses, Newport is the 4 seed.

Murray did beat Mayfield but it was more of a anomaly than anything else in my opinion.  Mayfield played poorly and Murray made some great plays.  Despite all that Mayfield had the game likely won but fumbled trying to run out the clock.  Before the game I had said running clock or close as Murray uses so much clock that its hard to actually get a running clock.  I have watched Mayfield weekly and Murray a couple times and yes they are getting better but its still unlikely in a rematch they beat Mayfield.  As for Mayfield dropping in the polls, I don't see anyone below them that would warrant moving them up given the full body of work.  As I have said though, there is a big gap between Lexington and Beechwood and everyone else but Mayfield would be the closest.  I see the Beecwood folks licking their chops in hopes of finally getting to end frustrations that go all the way back to 95 and all Mayfield fans get that.

While Murray controlled the clock and went for it on 4th down 5 or 6 times, they were extremely lucky to win the game. And while Mayfield layed a complete egg, you can dropped them to 10th, it will not matter.

TP my friend This streak should have been over a long time ago. Every-time Beechwood had a very good team Mayfield got beat the week before so if that had not had happened it wouldn’t be 7-0 Mayfield in the all time meetings. But I still can’t believe I pulled for Murray. That is one of the only times that will ever happen.

There are a handful of teams in the commonwealth, at least according to BGP posters, that can never actually be beat by an opponent. There are always extenuating circumstances!

Correct. The funny thing is, I have seen instances where these teams will lose soundly (eg. 28-7) and it will be, "I give the other team credit for winning, but this was more about how poorly our team played."

Haha it would have more been than once I promise you that my friend.

I’m shocked you haven’t been rubbing it to me that the Rebels beat the Vols in Knoxville a few weeks ago.

I have been down, that covid got in my chest and I am still struggling.  That is why I haven't posted much.  I just cant get rid of it but I am improving and have times where its not too bad anymore then out of nowhere it gets me down again.
