Well yeah I agree with you 1000 percent! I was standing right next to Yeagle when he told Greg what to do on that 4th down play. I was told after the game we could have re-ran 4th down if Yeagle wanted to. 
 

I agree it would have been tainted. Murray had the ball twice inside our 25 yard in the 4th qtr. We stopped them when we had to. 
 

Speaking of Murray I heard they got rings and banners that said home of the real state champs! Now that is funny! 

Why are we talking about Beechwood from years ago when this was Highlands at Dixie.  Curious if anyone knows what Sphire was so upset about at end of game.  Officiating was poor to put it mildly, but I guess you have to go with what you have available given the current shortage.

I would definitely like to hear more about the actions of the Highlands coaches at the end of the game.  Anyone?

Just listened to Dixie announcer and I would call that classless but calling the opposing coach a baffoon. 
 

Here is my question, can a high school player return an interception out of the end zone or is it a dead ball at time it is caught?

I don’t see what the controversy was?

It can be returned. It is only a dead ball if it was a two point conversion attempt that is picked off in the end zone. 
 

The refs did make a mistake by blowing the play dead. However, it had no impact because if they didn’t blow the play dead then the Dixie player wouldn’t have just ran around celebrating. He started celebrating after it was blown dead before he left the end zone. 
 

The only thing the refs could have done was say it was an inadvertent whistle after the interception. Meaning the interception still would have stand and would have been ruled a touchback, since the inadvertent whistle happened in the end zone. The inadvertent whistle wasn’t going to change anything, and the only reason Dixie players ran around celebrating was because the play was blown dead.

I knew what they were upset about.  Honestly, I thought I heard a whistle before the ball was even snapped, thinking Dixie might have called timeout.

Another official blunder.  1st and 10, illegal forward pass makes 2nd and 15.  Next play pass interference.  What should down and distance be?

There was a whistle as the white hat put the ball in play. Not sure if there was another pre snap? 
 

Not positive, but I think the 5 yard penalty is from spot of the foul if behind the line of scrimmage. So if the second pass was thrown a yard or so behind the original line of scrimmage the 2nd down was close to 2nd & 16 or 17 when PI occurred.

I haven’t seen film on it, but it caught my eye last night  

 

 

Sounds to me like there are some good candidates to get involved in officiating from these posts. Heard there is a shortage. The NKOA is a great group of folks and will train you and help you become involved. You see the plays in real time, get one look, and no film to help make the call!

5 yards no way.  I thought it was a forward pass but close.  My problem was the flag was dropped an eternity later.  I think I know the white hat and he reversed a call earlier in the year because he was wrong and not aware of the rule.  We need officials but I know the game and many calls were missed.

Maybe not 5, but definitely an easy call that was almost missed. Lots of calls missed for sure, but they were missed both ways.  The one thing I didn’t quite get was the 2nd to last play when the Birds were tackled just short of the end zone, with no timeouts, and were scrambling to get to the line to spike the ball as time was running out - and the ref stops the clock and gives Birds time to get a play called, set up and run it?!?  Maybe I missed something, but I didn’t get that one.
