There sure was.  Beechwood looked really good.  CovCath ran the ball pretty well but they are one dimensional.  The broadcast was nice too but it was Hergott/Beechwood centric. 

Let's talk some game stuff.

It was a an interesting game in many ways. I cannot recall any Cov Cath team that threw the ball as little as this one. The passes they threw were bubble screens and short passes over the middle. They took maybe two shots at long passes. Beechwood was in charge from the opening drive on. The Tigers were having success running the ball so they also threw the ball less than usual. Very few incomplete passes in the game. The result of all the running was each team only had 5 offensive possessions in the game. Beechwood had one true possession in the second half. CCH had two drives in the second half that ended in a punt and being stopped on downs. Beechwood had a long drive dominated by running the ball that resulted in a score giving them the 27-7 lead. The Tigers' second possession came with about 3 minutes to go in the game and they basically ran out the clock and took a knee to finish it. One "true" possession in the second half for Beechwood. 

The fourth quarter was very odd the way CCH played it. They were down 27-7 and yet they continued to run the ball. They had to grind out first downs, including going for it on fourth down. No plays for much more than 5 yards. The clock is working against them and they still kept running the ball. That last drive ate up most of the fourth quarter before ending on downs at the Beechwood 18. No sense of urgency. Very few passes. One long pass attempt in the entire drive that I recall. Were they conceding defeat and just trying to run out the clock? Beechwood gets the ball back with about 3 minutes to go and begins to run out the clock and CCH called no timeouts. Again, it was if they conceded defeat. What was the thinking in all this for CCH?  

It was an odd game due to all the running plays. It did keep the score down by limiting Beechwood's possessions. Beechwood scored a TD on every possession except the one at the end when they ran out the clock.

And for anyone wondering Cam's dad is number 34 in this picture, Cam got it honest!

I agree. It was almost a Tony Pike quarterback training promo.

My brother came over in the middle of the game and he thought the broadcast was put on by Beechwood by the way it was announced.

I thought the announcers were fair to CovCath but clearly the work they did to prepare for the broadcast revolved mostly around the Tigers.

Except knowing what city Beechwood is located in, it's obviously not Beechwood, Ky.
