1970 was my first experience.  I remember trying to ride my bike as they were flying everywhere, and the gross crunch of riding over them.  It was the first time my mom let us stay inside to play on nice days.

Dr. Gene Kritsky (the scientist whose name you only here every 17 years) has gotten together with his team at Mount St. Joe's and they started a free cicada app to track the re-emergence. It's called Cicada Safari.

As exact date is hard to pinpoint, but expect them to begin to arrive in early to mid May.

A warm rain will trigger their emergence, experts said, and they’ll slowly begin to overtake the area in the days after.

They went on to say the Cicadas will be mostly gone by mid July.

 I heard Dr. Kritsky on the radio. He said look for a soaking rain followed by 2 days of 80ﾟ temperature and you should start seeing them.
