AP All-State

This is not true.

The "town" of Belfry has a fire station, a gas station, zero red lights, and that's about it... no newspaper.

The closest newspaper for Belfry is in Williamson, WV and they do not have a vote for the KY AP polls... the Appalachian News-Express in Pikeville covers Belfry but there is not newspaper just for that community.

The larger newspaper are the only ones that get to vote. Belfry is covered by the newspaper out of Pikeville and they vote in the players from Belfry. Weekly newspapers do not get a vote therefore people from smaller communities do not get on this. THis all-state team is a joke, like someone said many of the voters never see the good players.

Why didn't Kasey Clark even get a mention at playing running back?

I think it was because of his naming to the All-State Defensive team. I personally think they knew Kasey and Beaumont were both worthy of the RB award but decided to give it to Beaumont because they could give Kasey all-state honors at DB. The reason I feel this way is because Kasey's numbers at DB this year were not that great but his RB stats were incredible considering he only played for half of a game for all but 1 game during the regular season and a few times he was pulled in the 2nd quarter. It was an easy way to give both well deserved 1st Team All-State honors. That's my opinion of the matter.

It's not all about statistics. Lots of backs put up big numbers, and even some great backs don't put up great numbers because of the way they're used.

This is very true

HA this all state is JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? Do you not think the kids who recieved honors deserve them?

Why isn't the "all-state" team broken into the classes? A-AA-AAA-AAAA ? More recognition for more kids on a more level criteria.

Add 2 to that next year and some may say that would be watered down:p

...or more fairly represented! Half full / half empty.

Actually back in the day, I believe the Coaches came up with separate All State teams for each of the classes and the AP was one overall all class all state team. Anyone know if the coaches still do it that way? If so, such might appease some of the folks on here.

I was asking around the other day and was provided this information.

There are several All-State awards. The one that was released this weekend was the Associated Press which is voted on by sports writers from around the state that work at newspapers that are members of the Associated Press. That is only 16 voters and only one is in NKY. Around Christmas time the Louisville Courier Journal and the Lexington Herald release their All-State teams. BluegrassPreps will have their All-State team later this month. Additionally the Enquirer and the KY Post will have their NKY All-Stars and the NKAC will release their All-Stars and Player of the Year in Division I, II, and III.

So we have the following to represent boys from this past football season.

Associated Press - voted on by sports writers from the state - 16 voters

Louisville Courier Journal - All-State

Lexington Herald - All-State

BluegrassPreps - All-State team later this month.

Enquirer - NKY All-Stars

KY Post - NKY All-Stars

NKAC All-Stars and Player of the Year in Division I, II, and III.

Where can one find a list of reporters that have a vote in AP?

Kasey Clark made it on defense. You can only make it on one position from what I was told on the AP team,

The problem is that Kasey Clark was not the best defensive player on Russells team. Linebacker Josh Wills is the best player and the heart and sole. How did they screw that up not even to mention Wills?????

No, but if, and note the word if, I had to choose the best players in the state for an award, I would have to go with the young man who did it against the better teams. Could the kid who did it against the bunny schedule do it against the better teams in the state? We will never know, but I am positive that the young man who did it against better teams, could do it against the bunny scheduled teams.

Again I am not taking anything away from the kid who did great things against the lesser teams, but we are talking All State, and not All Stats.....

Perfect post

Congratulations to all of the Kids on the list and the ones that didn't make it that were good enough to be on there! I am very proud of Gererld Hughes of Danville! Good luck in the future!;)

What really matters is who the College recruiters want. Those picked are truly the best players.
