It's clear Rodman has some issues and it's also clear he's never addressed them with a professional. I don't think it's as much about him being "different" as it is why he is that way. Basketball was a way for him to get away from whatever it was he was dealing with.

He was the leading rebounder in the NBA four years running when he arrived in Chicago. He continued that streak all three years in Chicago. He also was still a great defensive player (NBA first team defense 1995 and 1996).

I'm not sure there is a professional sports team that I dislike more than the Bad Boy Pistons...especially Laimbeer. I get the sense that he genuinely wanted to injure people.

No one will expect to hear this comment in relation to Bill Laimbeer but he is one of the most impressive people I ever saw in person. His back was so broad it didn't look human. Just massively broad.

I've liked all 4 parts so far, just thought a lot of time was wasted retracing Rodman territory that has already been covered.

 

I was never a Bulls fan or even a huge Jordan fan, but I hated those Pistons teams...especially Isiah.

I have loved it so far. I found it interesting hearing Reporters and even Jordan himself saying how people questioned how great he was, since his teams weren’t winning titles like a Bird and Magic. It kind of makes it similar to what we heard about LeBron early in his career.

 

They both also had teams standing in their way they had to get passed. For Jordan it was the Pistons and for LeBron it was the Celtics. The biggest difference obviously being MJ stayed and they all just seemed to work harder to eventually get by them. While LeBron took his talents to South Beach to team with other all stars so he could get by Boston.

For the record I do not fault LeBron for going to South Beach. He wanted to win titles so he and others took the path of least resistance. Remember, when he left for Miami the East was at an all time low talent wise. It was a joke. Three of the four or five best players in the East were now on one team. And that's fine, but just know you brought the "fire" upon himself from how he announced he was coming to the degree of difficulty he set. More power to him.

 

Jordan was criticized earlier on for not being able to elevate his team to the promised land. The rub was he didn't trust his teammates and didn't make them better (think Kobe). LeBron has always gotten a lot from his teammates because of his passing ability. There was just something intangibly amiss. Couple that with how he decided upon and arrived to Miami, you get his fire.

I know we are only seeing the top moments of Jordan, but you forget how much of freak that dude was. I would say the 8-10 years he was at his peak, there was never a debate as to who the best player in the league was.

 

I also forgot until I looked back, but he averaged 22.9 ppg and 20 ppg in his two seasons in Washington. That's impressive. Not sure what was more bizarre, his nearly two year mid-career layoff, or his post retirement three year layoff. He really only played 11 true seasons. I always forget about the two Washington years, then he had his injury season of 18 games played, and his first-return where he only played 17 games.

It’s good he let us know he was watching (nobody cared). At least now we know he knows what a GOAT looks like.

I have loved all four episodes, especially the raw language that thankfully is allowed on TV now.

The Jordan/ Lebron debate is going to rage on forever no matter what. Neither side will change their position. But the notion that MJ wouldn’t have left Chicago if he was in the same position year after year that Lebron faced in Cleveland is ridiculous. Lebron left Cleveland because it was a horribly run organization that lucked in to one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen and then they did nothing. The Bulls were nothing before Jordan got there but then they worked to surround him with talent and they happened to hire the greatest coach in NBA history to coach them. It’s in no way fair to compare the two situations.
