Per WKYT on Twitter:

"JUST IN: Julian Tackett says starting tomorrow (Friday), there will be an “extreme limit placed” on the people that can be at the Girls’ Sweet 16."

"Julian Tackett says bands and cheerleaders will not be allowed at the Girls’ Sweet 16 starting Friday. Small group of people in the stands starting tomorrow."

"Tackett says the Boys’ Sweet 16 could have more changes pending further guidance from the CDC."

Also from WKYT:

"Julian Tackett says the coronavirus could cost the KHSAA around 1,000,000 dollars for the changes in the Sweet 16.

Adds that money can’t be a factor in this decision. It’s about health."

He could have kept that to himself because it was clear that the KHSAA was going to go against all recommendations to limit large gatherings until late last night. It was clear that money was the driving issue up until then.

My point is .... “If this virus is that deadly and an issue of public safety why is it not an issue this week?”

If it is a issue of public safety then why do the people that are gathering this weekend not matter?

Because it took Rudy Gobert/NBA/Tom Hanks for people to stop worrying about the bottom line and figure out what the right thing to do health wise will be. Gotta keep in mind that things didn’t get real for way too many people until yesterday.

What is exactly real? Social media has made this such a mess I don't really even know what the true risks are any more. This is what is frustrating. However, I agree with PP92 the KHSAA was way late in making some sort of decision.

From last night's presser, it seems the governing body is taking a very measured approach.

Meh.

The KHSAA should stream all games for free.

From a business standpoint, why would they do that?

Rumor from a friend of mine who is a police officer in Lex is that the entire Sweet 16 will be cancelled today. Anyone else hearing this around Lexington?

Because sometimes there is an exception to the rule. :idunno:

To benefit all the loyal fans who attend every year and are getting shut out this year.

Also, perhaps a way to make up for lost revenue. Talk to advertisers about ads on the streaming.

Those people were going to pay to attend, they can’t pay to watch online?

Boys Sweet Sixteen to be announced cancelled per Jason Frakes on twitter.

Matt Jones on radio said boys sweet 16 is cancelled??
