Vaccine makers are looking at this new variant to see if variant evades vaccine. They also can quickly deploy reformulated vaccine to meet variant. Seems always will be variants circulating like flu so will just be endemic like the flu.

Boosters, boosters, and more boosters.

From the NYPost:

The new COVID-19 variant first detected in South Africa was given the name Omicron by the World Health Organization on Friday.

An advisory panel classified Omicron as a highly transmissible virus of concern and gave it its name under its Greek-letter system.

Thanks.  I skimmed their release.  Their strategy is a booster/new booster and they are working on it.

Yeah, they just have to tweak formula test it 60-90 days and then go from there.

I am glad they are hustling but in that time frame we could have another variant. Ugh.

Probably variants out there don't know about. South Africa does a lot of sequencing of genomes so why they find more variants.

I agree and say for every one we know of there are probably three more we don't know about.  The only good news there would be the ones we don't know about probably aren't as "deadly" but that is speculation on my part.

Omicron....

That was not supposed to be out until May of next year.

"Lanzamiento" is "launching" in English.

I understand naming hurricanes in a manner like this but I think it makes a lot more sense to go with Variant 1, Variant 2, V3, instead of all the weird names that add another layer of uncertainty to everything.

From your last three posts Tp94 the new variant is clearly going to circle the globe like all the rest no matter what us puny humans do.
