Wait for what? It's not the QB's job to make sure a player doesn't lead with the crown of his helmet. It doesn't matter if QB is standing, crouching, squatting or crawling around on all fours, you can't hit him with the crown of the helmet in the head.

It would have been a square, wrap up hit had Lawrence not buckled. Facts are optional if you hate OSU.

Sit out a half.

Terrible rule...

If Clemson takes the lead on their first drive of the 2nd half, they will win.

That is an if then statement, who is going to win?

Shaun Wade is 6’1”. Trevor Lawrence is 6’6”. Explain how Wade can hit Lawrence in the helmet, unless Lawrence sees it coming and cowers up to brace the hit.

I’ll wait...

Unfortunately that doesn't matter. Yes Lawrence dropped down to brace for the hit and yes that did result in a crown of the helmet hit on the QB by Wade. I think the targeting rule ejecting a player in college is a terrible rule.

Exactly, you have no explanation or logic, when someone presents facts. He was going for the body and Lawrence turtled.

I’ll give you a second chance to explain how Wade could have adjusted running full speed with a 10 yard head start...

It doesn't matter, you can't hit helmet to helmet...players get called for it every game.

Lawrence could have rolled up into a ball and started sucking his thumb, you still can't hit him with the crown of your helmet.

Teach your guys "heads up tackling" and you want have these problems next year.

Joel Klatt:

Keep in mind that replay is only supposed to get involved if they can CONFIRM every aspect of Targeting.

With two questionable (at best) aspects

1) level changes late

2) defender wraps up with no launch

This was an awful and game changing call (replay).

It would have been a square, wrap up hit had Lawrence not buckled. Facts are optional if you hate OSU.

Facts are optional if you are blinded by them too.

A 6’6” QB lowers his head, bracing for impact, and Wade is supposed to stop on a dime and cradle him to the ground. Did you play high school football?

No. He is supposed to not lower his head and hit with the crown of his helmet.

The rule may suck, but that gets called everytime.

Facts are optional if you are blinded by them too.

A Buckeye fan vs. a Buckeye hate squad member lol. We’re not gonna agree, I differ to people who knows more about football than me, like Joel Klatt, onto the second half. You or Deuce gonna chime in on Klatt’s take, or shrug it off?

This is where I am at.

All things considered no way that deserves an ejection.

If Ohio State wins can he play next week or does he have to sit that one out too?

Targeting should be treated like technical fouls. The only way you get tossed is if you get two of them confirmed by replay.

Tossing guys for one hit is beyond absurd.

How is the defender supposed to know that Trevor Lawrence is going to duck in to this hit? He’s 6’6” and is bracing for the hit. Wade is running full speed trying to tackle someone that is 6” taller than he is. Lawrence wasn’t defenseless. Running backs take this hit every play.

No. He is supposed to not lower his head and hit with the crown of his helmet.

The rule may suck, but that gets called everytime.

Muggsy Bogues could try to tackle Dikembe Mutombo in a similar fashion. It'd get flagged everytime.
