Just reading through this thread...wow. There are some very confident Highlands fans. That's good, look past the Jags.

With the exception of Boone and Campbell County, Cooper really hasn't been prolific on the offensive side of the ball and HHS for their faults are a VERY GOOD defensive team. For that reason I feel HHS will win by 2 or 3 scores. Their offensive woes cause people to forget just how good their D is.

No idea what they are doing with Lee. Run, pass, catch...who knows. From what I have seen, there is plenty of depth on Cooper.

My point exactly. The Birds offense has not been setting the world on fire either and while maybe not as consistent, the Jags defense has been decent and was extremely strong in the first part of the season. As another poster said, look past the Jags if you must but this game will be a dog fight and not as easy as some HHS fans seem to think. Play the game and let’s see....

My best guess is that Highlands wins this by two or three touchdowns. The Birds played hard-nose football last Friday and still didn't win...I think that brings them into tonight's game even more fired up and inspired with a chip on their shoulders.

 

Cooper won't lie down in this one, but look at the recent common opponents: Cooper allowed 35 points by Conner and 45 points by Cov Cath. Highlands allowed 20 points by Conner and 13 by Cov Cath. Highlands has the stronger defensive team. Comparatively, Cooper's offense did better than Highlands in both of those games, putting up 6 points against Cov Cath to Highland's 0, and then 29 points against Conner to Highlands' 17. Look a little deeper, though, and Cooper's touchdown against Cov Cath was scored with the Jags' starters against the Colonels backups after the running clock had started, and in the Conner game, which has been Cooper's only particularly solid offensive game against a quality opponent, one of the Jags' four touchdowns came on a returned kickoff be Lee. Highlands also had a touchdown on a kickoff return against Conner, so call that game an overall better performance by Cooper.

 

Like I said, I think Highlands wins this by two or three scores.
