AP voters only know the very specific area live in. The rest are pure guesses.

 

The rankings here at BGP are the best you'll find. Period.

Here is how organized the AP voting is in Kentucky. Al Willman handles the preps beat for Paducah Sun, Evan Dennison handles preps for the Maysville Ledger Independent, and James Weber handles things for the Cincinnati Enquirer. For anyone who has themselves convinced that the AP polls are reliable, or frankly that they're even meaningful, take a look at this exchange from Twitter this afternoon.

Also, let's not forget the piece written by Aaron Snyder in the Ashland Daily Independent this past January, where he openly bemoaned the disorganization of the AP nominating/voting process for the 2018 AP All-State Football Team. He brought up the fact that he was not notified about the nomination window being open for AP writers in the state, and that it was only after he took the time to contact the AP about nominating that he found out that not only had the nomination period already taken place, but that the actual voting window was almost complete. His article also alluded heavily to his not even being informed about which individual at the AP was actually in charge of handling the whole nomination/voting process.

For the record, Aaron Snyder and the Ashland Daily Independent guys are exempt from my criticism as well. They have always done a stand up job and have long been one of my favorite collective group of writers in the State. I will go on record stating that to anyone who will listen.

 

I actually wish Snyder and the ADI guys were regulars on here, they seem like the type that would be great for discussion (or maybe they are and we don't know it). I really like their style and wish more media members were like them.

I like having "those kind of professionals" on BGP but most of them either won't follow our Terms of Service or they think they are way above us or both.

It's truly embarrassing. Not making fun of them, but I have secondary embarrassment for them.

 

In all honesty, they should forgo the AP Rankings and partner with BluegrassPreps and use the BGP Rankings. They would look better and supply their readers with a better product. I think it's time for them to admit they don't have the resources and expertise to rank teams around the entire state. I would venture to say each outlet does a good job of knowing the teams in their service area, but don't have the capability to know all the teams in the state. BGP has people around the entire state that know the teams, the players and are able to objectively rank the teams throughout the state.

Poor old Boyle and Scott Co. Maybe they can do something this week to get themselves ranked. lol

Oh not surprised by anything in the AP. But hey maybe Scott Co. can say they are the “Kings” of both 5A and 6A. lol

I will preface this by saying that I very rarely have anything bad to say about the sports writers in our state, as they sacrifice a lot of time covering the sports we love, but this has to be said.

 

Anything having to do with Paxton Media Group, Willman's employer, is hot garbage for sure. The only person I have trusted over the years in this area is Todd Griffin, and he left the Caldwell County Times-Leader a week after it was bought out by the Paxton Group. It's too bad these ballots aren't cast in a serious manner. That ballot is pure trash.
