I realize not everyone is gonna see teams the same way. I know there are people who use completely different criteria than others may.

 

However, there are times that make you really scratch your head and then some. Today was one of those days as one of our local journalists submitted these picks for AP voting purposes.

 

How does your local people do with rankings? Some are very interesting.

Those ballots are the equivalent of a green trash receptacle, in an alley, that has caught fire.

Voting privileges need to be revoked immediately.

 

We had a thread about the Calpreps where we talked a little about the AP's inability.

 

All I will say in regards to that thread and this ballot:

The worst part though is for some unknown reason they are the rankings the general public takes the most serious.

 

I have seen some of the smartest HS Football minds I know and respect on the BGP ranking committee debate teams down to margin of victory and whether they have injured starters versus a common opponent or argue whether a neutral field in in-climate conditions should weigh heavier than a road game in normal conditions..

 

Meanwhile we have AP Voters choosing some classes based off how many points a team has scored on the year.

I just hope Boyle County gets it together this week. Maybe he'll be compelled to at least put them in towards the bottom of 4A. :laugh:

Bluegrasspreps thread asks "Can anyone stop Johnson Central in 4A?"

 

AP Voter says, "Not so fast my friend, I know Johnson Central returns the farm and have been the 2nd best 4A team for 5 straight years, and that Moore lost basically all their top players, but give me Moore straight up today if those two match up! Definitely think they are making up that 4 TD margin they lost by last year."

AP voters only know the very specific area live in. The rest are pure guesses.

 

The rankings here at BGP are the best you'll find. Period.

Poor old Boyle and Scott Co. Maybe they can do something this week to get themselves ranked. lol

Absolutely! I've seen some pretty bad ones at times and I know guys will give more respect to maybe their local teams, but this is just pure insanity.

It makes absolutely no sense to me how is Walton Verona right number four and they just lost to Lloyd and Lloyd’s not even in the top 10 .
