The one time I was lucky enough to the Playboy club in Cincinnati after a Mets game, Mike Reid was playing the piano and Tom Seaver and Johnny Bench came in. Got to shake hands with them but that was about it. Neat experience though.

Just jealous?

1) Easily Coack K for me. Met assistant Coach Nate James through ex girlfriends family who hooked us up with tickets at Cameron. Got there early enough to meet and briefly talk to Coach K. Nothing really of too much substance as I was the last thing on his mind.

 

2) Bob Baffert I suppose. Spoke to him a few times around the Keeneland sales. Really nothing that special though as he is out and about in those type of environments pretty often.

 

3) Not sure if this counts but now professional gamer Ninja. He has blown up and extremely famous for streaming Fortnite but he really began playing Halo. Haven't talked to him in person but have been in multiple online Halo lobbies with him in Halo 3. I played pretty competitively and he was still an amateur at that time. He didn't really break into the pros until Halo Reach.

 

4) Gilles Marini. He was filming in Atlanta and staying in the same apartments as a friend. We all hung out at the pool for quite a while. Really down to earth guy.

Could not agree more on Bench. Chose not to even include him because of that.

I've told the story before but in the summer of 1999 my twin sister and I had just graduated from high school. Our family took a road trip vacation to Philadelphia. We spent a Sunday night in a hotel in Delaware (nothing fancy, mind you). The next morning we're checking out and Robin Yount was in line right behind us. We recognized him and chatted for about five minutes. We talked baseball and he and my dad talked about sending kids off to college (he had a child going to college that fall as well). Their family was taking a road trip to Washington, DC just as we were going to Philadelphia. Never once did it come up in the conversation that he had been INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME THE DAY BEFORE! We shook hands, said our goodbyes and best wishes, and that was it. Genuinely one of the nicest people and nicest experiences in my life.
