March 20, 20197 yr Cooper grad and Belmont freshman Adam Kunkel played key minutes down the stretch and made a number of good plays for Belmont. He got some love from the broadcast crew commenting on how well the true freshman had played for Belmont. Belmont coach Rick Byrd gets his first NCAA tournament win, his 805th win as a coach.

March 20, 20197 yr Not much of a shock here. I am not sure Temple would have finished above third in the OVC. The top three in the OVC were really solid ball clubs. Fourth place, APSU, was a good team as well.
March 20, 20197 yr Belmont got huge contributions from their bigs inside against Temple. I don't think they have that type of success against the bigs from Maryland. Should be a good game, but I think Maryland pulls this one out.

March 20, 20197 yr This was Adam making his first free throw. I thought he played great on defense. He anticipates everything so well and has lightning quick hands. I talked to Adam's dad after the game and he was absolutely ecstatic! Go Belmont Bruins, beat Maryland!

They beat Murray handily in Jacksonville and the second match-up with the Racers came down to the final seconds. They are experienced and able to switch every position. Plus they have Ray Harper coaching who knows a thing or two.

I saw him at the KOB and he looked, as expected, more like a kid. His future is bright.
March 20, 20197 yr Kid put in solid minutes at "crunch" time and I am sure Dad is extremely proud of how he competed and brought some energy to the court.
