November 19, 200619 yr to be the #2 team in the nation? How can the #2 team in the nation not be the team whose only loss is @ the #1 team in the nation by 3 points? USC-loses to Oregon St. Florida-loses to Auburn Arkansas-loses to USC Notre Dame-loses to Michigan Rutgers-loses to Cincinnati Louisville-loses to Rutgers West Virginia-loses to Louisville Isn't it obvious?
November 19, 200619 yr Simply, Michigan had their chance and didn't win. If USC wins out, they will have non-con wins at Arkansas, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. That is pretty doggone good.
November 19, 200619 yr LABS is right. The Arkansas win and potential Notre Dame win for USC will put them #2 should they win out.

The loss to Oregon State HAS to be in play. If they want SOS to mean what you say it does, they can't drop that game. No way, no how...
November 19, 200619 yr The loss to Oregon State HAS to be in play. If they want SOS to mean what you say it does, they can't drop that game. No way, no how... Leading up to this game, I haven't agreed w/ much GT has said, but I gotta go w/ him on this one. Michigan is the best one loss team in the nation. The win over Notre Dame and yesterday's game are proof of that. That haven't lost to an unrated team, or get blown out in their loss. They played the best team in the country to within 3 points in a very hostile environment. The thought of having to play U of M again is a little unsettling, but the opportunity for Troy Smith to become a four time winner over the Wolverines makes me froth at the mouth. GO BUCKEYES!
November 19, 200619 yr Leading up to this game, I haven't agreed w/ much GT has said Welcome to a rather large club...
November 19, 200619 yr If you can't win your conference you shouldn't win the national championship. So you award USC for losing to a team that isn't good enough to claim the Pac 10? I don't buy that. Sorry...
November 19, 200619 yr Michigan is a fine team but their are 5 other confernce champions that deserve a first shot at a NC before they get a second shot. The Big Ten excluding Mich and OSU were 1-28 against ranked opponents this year the one win was Indiana over Iowa when Iowa was ranked. That is a weak league.
November 20, 200619 yr Author Simply, Michigan had their chance and didn't win. If USC wins out, they will have non-con wins at Arkansas, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. That is pretty doggone good. Lets look deeper. How good was Arkansas when USC beat them? Horrible. Nebraska hasn't done anything special, and who has Notre Dame beaten this season?
November 20, 200619 yr Author So if Florida and Kentucky turn out to be the two best teams in college basketball this season, and Florida wins the SEC regular and postseason titles, Kentucky doesn't deserve a chance to play them in the National Title game? Can't wait for these responses.
November 20, 200619 yr The loss to Oregon State HAS to be in play. If they want SOS to mean what you say it does, they can't drop that game. No way, no how... Who says its being dropped? That's why we're not arguing who is #1.
November 20, 200619 yr Who says its being dropped? That's why we're not arguing who is #1. And now we compare UM and USC. USC lost to a bad team. UM lost to #1 by 3 on the road. Check mate...

So you penalize the team that lost to the better team and allow the teams that lost to the weaker teams play for the National Championship?
