I watched the Dixie/Ryle game last week, and once Ryle was up about 25, they went 4 corners and quit attacking the goal. The 4th quarter was spent running the clock, not the score.

Campbell County nor Brossart or Scott play Silver Grove in the regular season, so the 4th Seed appears to already be taken.

One of the answers is you play a relaxed zone on defense after you have gotten the lead up to a comfortable level. When you pull the press off you don’t keep playing man to man. The zone on defense slows the game down allows Calvary the opportunity to run some offense and get some shots off. If you still play man to man in the half court your still going to dominate an inferior team and make the pace fast . Pack the zone allow them to shoot uncontested outside shots and walk the ball upcourt on offense . Takes care of putting up 90s. Take the 60-20 win and move on.

I guess Campbell should have saved some of those points for this evening since Dixie beat them tonight In Claryville.

At what point do we decide these two teams have no business playing each other?

Personally, playing keep away (four corners) bothers me more than the backups playing straight up basketball. If someone went four corners on my team, I would tell my team to just play zone D, let them run out the clock and let's move on.

Which, if correct, begs the question. Couldn’t Calvary and SG play in the regular season for the 4/5 seeds and not play the big three?

But wouldn't the issue then be that Silver Grove was willing to take the 4th seed in all sports? Whereas Calvary wasn't?

 

I know going into the game, the Calvary coach just wanted his kids to play hard and avoid yet another starter getting injured.

Can anyone see the wisdom in Ky going to divisions based on this? I know it’s hard for the hardcore traditionalists to be open minded on this issue, but we have Silver Grove AND Calvary Christian In our district. Who is that helping? Are we for the kids or are for having a great “product” for fans?

 

Cov Latin in with NDA and Holmes? Heritage with Ryle and Conner?

 

How does this make any sense other than Kentucky ego?

Not a bad point, but most of the time, Silver Grove, Latin, Heritage, and Calvary cannot compete with Bellevue, Dayton, Lloyd, Ludlow, or other small "A" schools in the 8th, 9th, and 10 regions.

You score 97 points because you want to. Plan and simple. There is a 0% chance Calvary wins this game. You gain nothing from pressing them because it's probably not as competitive as your practice.

 

This game shouldn't be played. If Calvary offered to drop the game, then shame on Campbell for making them play it.

Everyone on here is quick to bash a girls blowout game like this yet when it happens on the boys side (Campbell vs. Calvary), nothing is said there. Seems very hypocritical to me.

This question would be best addressed to one of the ADs.

 

Silver Grove has already "opted out" of the district seeding game process. I (personally) can't see why Calvary couldn't do the same.

 

The big picture is that come tournament time SG and Calvary play each other for the privilege of getting their brains beat in by the Number One seed.

 

Since the district is split three "big" schools and two "small" schools, the big schools (more competitive schools) are always going to vote to seed, and the two small schools have an annual death sentence come district tournament time.

 

Even if this were a non-seeded district and SG and Calvary were to draw opposite Brossart, Scott, and Campbell County, they would get beat substantially in the district finals, pick up a District Runner-Up trophy, and then be beaten substantially in the first round of the region.
