Raceland 21

This should be a great game. Good luck rams.

NewCath by two or three touchdowns.

I absolutely HATE posting about this game . . . . but I have broken down each team in preparation for what was (and what will never be . .ha, ha, ha).

 

I have 1400 plays on NCC

I have 300 plays on Raceland

 

So, both have been broken down accordingly.

 

My prediction:

NCC 35 (possibly 42)

Raceland 7

 

I see this a lot like the NCC/Holy Cross game (2nd version)--pretty close for the vast majority of the game until NCC's depth/size/strength starts to wear on Raceland.

 

For the record--It wouldn't bother me if Raceland won. But if NCC plays their game, they are hard to defend. Not to say that Raceland isn't. But, I wasn't as impressed with Raceland (on film anyway).

 

Keys for Raceland to make this a game:

*Shut down A gap first (counter, DIVE, trap), C gap 2nd (slam), B gap 3rd (power)

*Don't give up any home runs. You CAN afford to be dinked to death as long as your defense is in good physical shape.

*Take advantage of any/all interceptions (QB still locks on--but he isn't forcing it as much as he was earlier in the season--he will run instead)

*Raceland MUST establish some type of running game--EARLY and OFTEN. No run = No win . . . PERIOD.

 

If these 4 things can be done--it will be a good game.

 

The one thing that I find amusing is the fact that some of the Raceland fans are saying that they have a better coaching staff than NCC . . . . . . now--I think that they are doing a great job. But at this point, it may still be a little unrealistic to say that the Raceland coaching staff is better (or even equal). Win on Friday and that changes immediately. (Not trying to sound harsh--sorry if it does).

 

As far as NCC goes--all they have to do is play their game--and not try to go outside of their normal offense (which now includes a more regular diet of I Flank and a couple other formations that utilize the correct personnel).

 

Heres wishing both teams a safe, well played game.

I hope that his thread can stay alive and I guess all that I have to say is that no one wins it on paper (or keyboard in this case:D ). Ram players, NCC will be your toughest opponet so far so lets just line it up and play some Raceland Ram Pride football Friday night. GO RAMBLERS!!!!!!!!!!! The Rams want this and realize that its not impossible but a tough battle. I hope this thread will be polite and encouraging to both teams. Please i am bored out of my mind with stats. Most of us old men can give you the stats on teams since the 50's. It will mean nothing come Friday night. These boys will make their own history. I do have an opinion about one thing and it could be extremely wrong. With that said i still think we are classed wrong i do not think a small independent school needs to be playing private schools. I do not think 2a is classed right either. That said i will not complain any further because my children has assured me that i might be able to get out of the house and watch the game with a ram burger or hot dog.

 

Would you feel better if Beechwood was playing instead of the private school? What's the difference? To get to the finals you have to beat the teams put before you. NewCath is only the second private school to win either A or AA in the last 25 years. The only other team? NewCath in '84. This is a class dominated historically by public schools. Don't use public v. private as a crutch.

It may help NCC fans to remember back to 1997. Raceland 32, NCC 21. Not saying Raceland will win, but Raceland has beaten NCC (and also gotten thumped plenty of times) in the past. It is possible this year.

 

That game played perfectly to Raceland's favor. That was the rare year where they had better overall athletes, and a huge size advantage on a wet track. They were the better team. Truth be told, had Raceland not lost their QB in the second game of the year that year, they may have won the district, at worse gotten the #2 seed. He just happened to come back in Week 9.

I had reservations even posting to begin with. The other night left me in a mental funk that I have yet to recover from. Heres hoping that Raceland doesn't have to deal with the same type of "issues" that I am having right now.

 

But that is the beauty (and pain) of high school football. During this stage of life--David can still find a way to beat Goliath. Maybe it would be insult to call a Raceland win a miracle--but if the Rams play their heart out--maybe they can give their fans one.

There is no doubt that NCC should be the favorite Friday night. I don't make any predictions on Raceland's games. I hope that both teams come out of it injury free.

I have seen both teams many times...this is my OPINION. After the Rams pulled out the victory last weak over LCA...A game in which LCA turned the ball over 8 times...by 7 points, I have to go with NCC.

This man knows his football. I have to agree with him on the prediction. But expect a tough game.

I have seen both teams many times...this is my OPINION. After the Rams pulled out the victory last weak over LCA...A game in which LCA turned the ball over 8 times...by 7 points, I have to go with NCC.

7 points or 70 it is still a win. For the most part the TO's were caused by some hard hits by the Ram defense. The bend but no break defense is vastly improved from a year ago and coupled with the special teams play has been the reason for the Rams success. NCC is a great football team and it will take a total TEAM effort by the Rams to beat them. If the offense clicks as it is capable of, it will be a very special night at Ram Stadium.

Unfortunately for Raceland, they are not the toughest team that NCC will have faced this year. NCC rolls by 4 tds.

True. If Raceland plays the same type of game they did against LCA (get turnovers and turn them into points) then this game can be won.

 

Sometime in the 90s NCC went to Paris to meet a Paris team that needed a miracle run in the last seconds at home to beat Bellevue in the first round of the playoffs(I believe 13-12) in a game Bellevue had dominated. Now NCC had waxed Bellevue pretty easily in the regular season and had crushed either Owen County or Carroll County in the first round.

NCC got to Paris and proceeded to turn the ball over all night long and Paris got an easy win.

I was at the game and saw the turnovers...You missed my point. The Rams only put up 20 points...all three of which game off those turnovers. The Raceland offense didnt do much. As I said earlier...my OPINION.

 

By the way...LCA only fumbled twice....One was a strip not a hit. The other was a hit. Five were from interceptions...mostly on ill-advised throws from the Frosh QB, and the last on a blocked punt for a TD. Not taking anything away from the Rams D...but LCA didnt help themselves any.
