November 12, 200619 yr Nice post and comments cville. I have been more than critical of Brooks from the day that he was hired and still don't like him. I will say that he has brought UK football above what we were but that is not saying much. I still am not convinced that he is the man for the job at UK but I have to give him credit for sticking to his guns under all the fire. Archer is another story all together. He and his matador defensive philosophy should had been gone before he was hired.:irked: With a ton of young players and the smell of what he inherited still in the air, ... he has guided UK to the most SEC wins they have had in 14 years. I am convinced that many other coaches would have walked away with all the pressures that many UK fans have put on his shoulders. But he has handled it with class and dignity and has these young Cats headed in the right direction. Let's be honest, ... who else wanted the job? UK football, ... on probation, ... loss of scholarships, ... impatient fans? Let's face facts that this was not the most attractive job out there for too many coaches wanting to make a name for themselves. I remain proud that he is doing it the right way not the Mumme way! And BTW, ... he has already won more SEC games this season then Hal EVER won in a season! :thumb:
November 12, 200619 yr I say yes...but the pressure is more next year....They will likely lose to Louisville, UT, and Florida. I am sure some more as well...Their OOC is likely going to better as well.
November 12, 200619 yr I have been critical of Brooks and I still do not like him but you can't deny the fact he has improved the team from what they were. I give him credit for sticking to his guns and believing in what he was trying to accomplish. I have always heard that you have to crawl before you walk and I think they have taken some huge steps in the right direction. The players seem content and have bought into what Brooks is teaching so to me that speaks volumes for him. I hope they continue to improve, the cats have faced a lot of adversity and keep on fighting through it, that says a lot about the character of the players. Brooks has one more year on his contract so I think he will be given that year to continue to improve. If there is no improvement I feel he will be looking for the rocking chair. My thoughts exactly. I have been very critcal of Coach Brooks for 2 years now. I owe him an apology. He is winnning games with underclassman and has character that I admire. I still have problems with some play calling, clock management, etc... but feel he has definitely proven himself. He carries himself with class on and off the field,, and that's getting kinda rare these days.

I am sure some more as well...Their OOC is likely going to better as well. OOC next year is E. Kentucky, Temple, Louisville, and Fla. Atlantic. Fla., LSU, Miss. St., and Tenn. at home. S. Car., Ark., Georgia, and Vandy away.

I dont know what UL will lose, but we lose pretty much nothing!!
November 12, 200619 yr I know this is way early! But I think if Brohm and Bush leave UK has a very good chance of beating UL at Commonwealth! I dont know what UL will lose, but we lose pretty much nothing!!Louisville is VERY young, especially on defense.
November 12, 200619 yr Louisville is VERY young, especially on defense. UK is also VERY young. I can't think of a skill player that they lose. Our O is legit.
November 12, 200619 yr I like Brooks as a coach and I will admit I thought he bit off a little too much with all of the obstacles he faced when he took this job. He has taken baby steps with this program and slowly started turning things around if he sticks around I think he can take this program to a level they are not used to being at.
November 12, 200619 yr Mark Story is even backing Brooks now. Thats quite an accomplishment in itself. http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/15992626.htm I believe UK will give Brooks two or three more years. I can't see Mitch taking a chance with much more than that.
November 12, 200619 yr Brooks has saved his job. He will only solidify his position with another good recruiting class. I heard a stat that UK gave up over 600 yards today. Changes on the defensive side of the ball must be made including Archer going. Agree with you there. Archer has a great resume but his last few years have been horrible. They need to maybe overhaul the defensive coaching staff and get an energized defensive coordinator in there!

He has a hard personality to read but he seems to be a guy with class as you have said. At least he is trying to do the right things and he certainly makes sure that the players follow his rules or they don't stick around to long. Next season will be the deciding factor as he enters the season with more scholarship players and higher expectations and hopefully a new defensive scheme.
November 12, 200619 yr UK is also VERY young. I can't think of a skill player that they lose. Our O is legit. It would be interesting...but I certainly see Brian coming back...that means that U of L will certainly be just as good as they are now...next season.
