Why Stefanski?

 

The Vikings offense isn't lighting it up.

 

This past week was his 1st game as OC.

Tom Coughlin was a finalist for the job with Marvin back in 2003. If I had a guess if the Bengals don't just promote Hue. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to see if he has any interest in returning to coaching. He definitely would bring discipline.

 

If I'm the Bengals, I go for a disciplinarian. No clue who that is, but they're such an undisciplined team, just cleaning that up would improve things ten fold.

 

If I'm going disciplinarian my first call is to try to get Bill Cowher out of the studio. 12 years younger than Coughlin and I believe would relate better to the players while establishing the discipline than Coughlin. Yes you want more discipline, but no you don't want to lose the ship while doing so.

 

He also has plenty of experience winning in the AFC North, which has changed since he's been there, but in Nov-Dec it's still about ground and pound be the tougher man football.

 

He'd be a hard one to pull from the studio, but it's possible. Guys like Gruden prove that it's always a burning desire of coaches to coach and lead. I'd at least send the feeler out.

If it's Hue Jackson or Marvin Lewis there shouldn't be a single person in attendance next year. They have robbed us blind for too many years.

Totally agree and that is why I think there is a real chance it happens. It would be such a "Bengal" move...

What about Josh McDaniels from New England? I know he was the Colts guy before he pulled out at the last minute this past season.

I have always been a big Josh McDaniels guy. I would love it if they got him. However, if he didn't take the Colts job. I don't see him taking this job with the Bengals management reputation. I could see Green Bay, or Dallas if it were to open to be more realistic openings for him.

Correct. Mike Brown needs a "yes man". Maybe Stefanski could work since he's so young and it'll be his first HC gig. Need to do something different in this organization. No real results from this era.

I have always thought Stefanski did great work. He hasn't really had what you would call cream of the crop quarterbacks and has made some real progress with some of them, most notably Teddy B IMO. If the offense performs like it did Sunday for the rest of the season, I think Minnesota will do whatever and pay whatever to keep him there.

I know they blocked him from going to the Giants last year to be the OC. I doubt they block him again if he is trying to get a Head Coaching Job. So while they may give him a pay raise, unless they get rid of Zimmer. IMO it would hard to keep him there if he finishes this season out strong and has a chance to be a HC.

Just heard something on SNF about the NFL coaching changes, and they mentioned a couple already sent packing & a couple pending (nothing on the Who-Deys); but what caught my ear was a rumored parting between Zimmer & Minny (either resignation or firing)? That could be interesting if he becomes available? Jim to head job, Hue back to OC and Marvin taking over the D?

 

Don't get me wrong, not advocating for this & I can't see this happening; but they were all on board for the Bengals most recent "success" if I'm not mistaken; and Mikey may think this is his path back to a first round playoff loss?
