Just heard something on SNF about the NFL coaching changes, and they mentioned a couple already sent packing & a couple pending (nothing on the Who-Deys); but what caught my ear was a rumored parting between Zimmer & Minny (either resignation or firing)? That could be interesting if he becomes available? Jim to head job, Hue back to OC and Marvin taking over the D?

 

Don't get me wrong, not advocating for this & I can't see this happening; but they were all on board for the Bengals most recent "success" if I'm not mistaken; and Mikey may think this is his path back to a first round playoff loss?

 

Are you saying Zimmer becomes the Head Coach and Lewis runs the defense? If so no chance Marvin would want or accept going from the head coach to only DC, while still here in Cincy.

 

With that said I would be fine with Zimmer as the Head Coach. Shoot even Bill Bellicheck got fired from his first head coaching gig.

I'm saying zero shot Marvin would take a demotion down to be only the DC here in Cincy.

If you go on Twitter and look up Mike Zimmer. You see all kinds of Viking fans wanting him gone, and complaining about a lot of the same stuff we complain about Marvin. Yet most Bengal fans including me have said they would be fine with Zimmer here lol.

What about Brian Schottenheimer? While not a guy in his 30's, he's still what I would consider "young". Been involved with several organizations, under several head coaches and systems.

I think Zac is a bright young coach, but I have a hard time seeing him being ready for a HC job in the NFL this early in his career...

Thank you. It definitely is a quick jump going from a college OC. To a NFL head coach in just 3 years, and never calling plays actually in the NFL.

It came be Zimmer. He is under contract with the Vikings. Unlike in college football where coaches can leave to join another program. It doesn't work that way in the NFL. He is not an option unless the Bengals trade for him. Which that would also mean the Vikings would have to be willing to trade him and look for a new coach themselves.

Just to show perception is not always reality. Also to show how people have short memories some times. When looking at how the QB situation is for the Bengals for the next coach. Below is a comparison of how both Driskell and Dalton did without Green.

 

I think shows maybe wasnt a fair evaluation of Driskell like you said @GrantNKY because I think people forgot how poorly Dalton also looked at completing passes without Green or doing much of anything without him.

 

Just something for the new coach to think about. Dalton will be the starter, but I think shows he is not the type of qb you can go far with.
