Should Male move the game to Papa Johns?

Featured Replies

It really dosen't make any difference the best team will win regardless of where the game is played, but this selfish decision will stop many local football fans from seeing a great football game, I believe about 500 fans were turned away last Friday at the X- Male game and that is a shame. It is someones blind personal agenda that is driving this decision to play at this small facility.

I don't know why they are concerned, I saw what the two Male players said on T/V Friday night about beating the two private schools on consecutive weekends, why even play this game, it appears there is already a winner. Good luck to both teams and have a safe game, it is a shame that many fans won't get to tell their grandkids about this game because it was sold out.

Three, Its our choice. deal with it. Get there early if you want to share it with your Grandchildren, and please don't call the school names for using their right. I believe we have more room than the Rock Stadium, Marshall I believe thats the name. So if the Rocks were the home team what would the fans do then?

I see this as Males call. I think that moving the game to PJCS would be to the advantage of Trinity. Not so sure that Male wants to do this. Male's field is more than adequate for a third round game. If you want a seat, show up early. The field is in pretty good shape and I see this as a non issue. Males home field is an advantage to them. Trinity fans, just wait before the game starts, during warm up etc. The music will be so loud that you cant here yourself think sitting on the other side of the stadium. The music will be blastin right in the visitors ears as they warm up for the game. Get ready to hear this for 40 + minutes.... It is enough to distract you! Get you out of your game focus. If the game was moved to PJCS, all that is lost for Male. So I see no way that Male will move this game to PJCS. Nor should they be forced to do so by opponents wishes. Good game on tap, best to both teams.

By the way... to answer an earlier question, NO (IMO) would Trinity move the game to PJCS if it had a choice.

It doesn't matter at this point, but the Rocks had already commited to move the game to PJCS if X had won. It would have been Trinity's in that senario and I'm sure they would have stuck with that plan if it was their choice now. But it isn't, not a big deal.

Wow, Male is a 14 point favorite in the latest poll. I'm surprised they have to use gimmicks like loud music to give them an edge. Sounds kind of silly to me.

LSU....Re: Gimmicks.

What about the LSU giant-headed tiger traipsing the sidelines behind the opposing team when they are warming up?

I second that LSU. With all of Male's speed and talent, why would someone like Redman or AD Stewart stoop that low with loud music. May have to use my wire cutters on the speaker wire. After the rain on Thursday, will Male continue to water the field like Boone County did a few years ago? Male prefers their field because their grass has more cushion than Papa Johns grass.

Sounds silly to me that there is even an argument about a team that has earned the right to host a playoff game having it at home, instead of where the "fans" want it.

^ Just all part of the "home" field and pregame activities. All teams have some element of this type of thing.

Now now, LSU. It isn't polite to be critical of one's host! What Male does (playing music during warmups, timeouts, halftime, etc) is similar to what U of L does at Papa Johns for home games. It's just part of creating a homefield atmosphere. Is the crowd making noise a silly gimmick, too? What about the band playing the school fight song? (By the way, Male's band was away at a competition for the St X game, which may explain the use of recorded music).

I'm kind of surprised at all the pettiness about the venue for this Friday's game.

^ Great post...I just wanted it at the box for convenience factors, and guranteed field conditions...if I were Trinity I would be practicing at Green Line this week.

What is Green Line?

Our practice field on Sears Avenue, it has all the adverse conditions a team could ever face

Natural grass, I presume?

and also you want to save Pappa Johns. You want the championship game to mean something. To feel special when you step on the turf. Not just another game.
I suspect the championship game is special, no matter where it is played. It's never "just another game."
