I am looking forward to seeing seeing the game at Male as I have heard nothing but nice things about the stadium. But PJS is great for shooting pics.

If the field is in bad condition it might be wise to move it. If the field isn't in bad shape I would want to play on my home field.

If the game was going to be played at the Pizza Box, I'd try to go. No way I'd dare to attempt to maneuver at Maxwell Stadium.

The field is in pretty good shape if it is dry. It was very fast last night, but we hadn't had rain since Tuesday and we've had 70 degree days since. If it gets real soggy from rain, well that's another story.

 

The 10-day forecast shows a chance for showers Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with Friday partly cloudy and a high of 55. Of course, last night when I got home from the game, I checked and they weren't calling for rain on Thursday. With the uncertainty of predicting 5-6 days in advance, it could easily be raining Friday or so late in the week that the field can't recover.

 

If the game were moved to PJCS, would Nick and Bobby's dad let the Rocks get a few secret practices in there before the game?

I doubt it.....we have field turf at home.

If its because of the surface, they might as well play at Marshall. If you move it to Papa, it'll just be another Trinity home game because 1. They always seem to play at papa this time of year anyways, 2. The fans, best in the K, and maybe the whole country. These fans are rowdy and relentless. And they'll follow their Rocks off a cliff.

Could someone explain the financial advantage to Male if the game were moved? X played them and there was still room around the field to pack in more fans. I am aware of no empirical evidence that T travels better than X. If the game were at Papa Johns I would assume that there would be a rental fee for Papa Johns, and I am not sure about whether Male would get the concessions at Papa Johns. It seems like they would give up concession money and a rental fee for a possible attendance increase. Does anyone have knowledge of the financial numbers on this sort of thing? Note, again, I am only addressing the financial angle, not the home field or condition of the field aspect.

Yes, there were how many people at X-Male last night? Say 10,000. OK, well there were 5,000 at Trinity-Ballard and likely 5,000 more just fans that would love to see a Male-T game this week. That's 10,000 more than were there last night. I would say many of the X fans will be attending this game. Heck, they even said on the radio last night that the X team will broadcast. No question in my mind, if at Papa John's at least 18,000. So yeah, I would say that is a HUGE financial take-in for Male and T (they split the gate). Also, does anyone really know how much it costs to rent Papa John's. Yes, I do and lets just say with not a huge crowd X-Manual and Seneca-Ballard that all four teams took home a nice check. U of L is VERY generous.

 

And again, I am just talking about the financial aspect that would benefit Male and Trinity. Like I said earlier, I don't blame Male for not moving it. It would just be more enjoyable for us fans not to have to get there before school lets out.

Lock the thread Guru, anit gonna happen. Home field for the Dawgs and playing a great team like the Rocks we need all the help we can get. Rocks throw the ball more than we do so a wet field might help considering the Rocks are used to the turf and we haven't seen the turf.

I think this would be an advantage for Trinty because they could bring more fans, and Trinity is used to playing on turf.

You said 10,000 at the Male game last night. All of that, plus concessions to Male. If they rent UL, they split the gate with T, so even at 18,000 people in attendance, that takes their share to 9,000 (1,000 less than last night) and they have to rent PJCS (who knows how much) and they may not get concessions sales (again, who knows what happens on this end). fiscally, it doesn't make sense for Male to move the game. Considering the atmosphere at Male too, I think they'd be smart not to move the game.

IMO Male should play at home and their fans should show up early and in force. Money isn't everything. If I was the Male HC I would want to play at home. The only way I think about moving to Papa Johns is if I honestly felt it gave my team an edge.

Give me a count on how many times that Trinity plays on the artificial surface each season and how many times Male does. (Let alone how many time they each play in PJCS) Forget it, Male should stay at HOME regardless!!! Both teams will have to play on the same field so (in the event of rain and sloppy field conditions) a passing attack by Trinity would be slowed equally as a running game by Male. I have seen both St. X - Male contests and what Male "did not do" in the second half was more of a factor than the actual field conditions. They almost made the same mistake again last night in the second half as they opened up and tried an option pitch that they did not even try in the first half. Also, a noticeable limiting of Beaumont touching the ball out of the backfield led to some stalled drives.
