Should Male move the game to Papa Johns?

Featured Replies

I believe that Trinity and X had an agreement that if they were to meet, the game would be at the pizza box, regardless of who was the "home" team. I can understand the Purples wanting to play at home. It is their prerogative.

Might be their prerogative but they will turn away probably 10,000 fans. And will their AD be willing to a) lose that much revenue and b) tick off that many fans? Also, the parking situation at Male is not conducive to that large of a crowd. You can't park cars along Preston Highway and in the lots of businesses around the school.

Everyone that thinks Male should not move the game needs to look at the two Male/X games before passing judgement.

Earned? Male and Trinity were both #1 seeds and district winners. Its just their turn.

They are undefeated I would say earned. I'm not saying they are better than Trinity but it is their home field they are suppose to play at. It's an honor to play at home in these big games at least it should be.

There is no way I would move this if I was Male's coach, but that is just me.

Well, Male did get there by beating X twice. In full, 48 minute games. I would say they earned it regardless of the goofy KHSAA playoff setup.

Would Trinity move the game from Marshall Stadium to Papa John's (and give up homefield advantage) if they were hosting this year?

Obviously I'm not from the ville' area. How often do Louisville teams use Papa Johns?

Let's cut to the chase here if they move it will be because teams split a playoff gate and the gate will be much larger at Papa Johns then anywhere else.

I don't like this new idea that the road team brings a huge crowd so lets just go to a neutral site so we can make more money.

I know Male is loaded with speed but if the argument is speed they should try to use Papa John's every week instead of just the Trinity week.

You know better than that. It was decided long ago without any imput of who beat whom by how much when. Its your turn, plain and simple. Don't make it something its not.

Marshall Stadium can hold about 8,500 people (and that is with a lot of folks without a seat). If we could sell another few thousand tickets at PJCS, you bet the game gets moved. Its a money thing.

Maxwell Field was absolutely packed tonight--largest crowd I've ever seen there. I'll be interested to see the announced attendance, but I'd be shocked if it was less than 10,000. I looked up the Male/Trinity finals from 2000 to 2002 and they drew 10,119, 20,485, and 20,511 respectively. And the weather for the 2000 game was atrocious--low 30s, windy, and snow showers.

I think it makes sense for Male to move the game to PJCS to take some of the risk out of the playing surface and to better accomodate the fans that will want to see the game. The only downside I can see for Male is that Trinity is very familiar with PJCS and they are not. But opinions are like belly buttons...

Yes! It was booked for Trinity to play there if they were the home team against St. X or Male! Or at least, I was told by a high ranking official at Trinity last night.

I agree it's Male's home game and I for one would probably not want to move it to a neutral site if I was the coach just for the home-field advantage. But I would think the AD could see another $10,000 and want to move it. It's the only game in town next week and the 4-A state title game (we all know this is true). Can you imagine the average fans from around the area that would just like to see the game? Think of all the folks that would have missed the Brohm-Bush epic if it had been a third round game at Male.

Like I said, I don't blame Male for not moving it but it's the logical thing to do. Not to mention safety getting in and out and parking. By the way, just a curious question for H. The few Male home games I have been at the past two-three years, how do so many folks get onto the sidelines? There must have been 300-400 extra folks on the sidelines for Male tonight?

And finally, no matter where it's played it will be a classic!

It is....but our stadium, regardless of weather would be suited for the game.

If the game was going to be played at the Pizza Box, I'd try to go. No way I'd dare to attempt to maneuver at Maxwell Stadium.

I am looking forward to seeing seeing the game at Male as I have heard nothing but nice things about the stadium. But PJS is great for shooting pics.
