Should Male move the game to Papa Johns?

Featured Replies

This is not something to new to have to shut people out if it gets to crowded.

I remember in the spring of 99 when Scott County #1 in the state in Basketball when they had Rick Jones, A. W. Hamiltion and they were playing Madison Central #2 in the state when they had Marquis Estill and Kenneal Jenkins the game was at Scott County and the doors were closed sometime past 6:00 if I remember correct. There was no uproar about moving the game to Rupp Arena. The fire marshall closed the doors. This is nothing new.

I don't care where the game is played.

All I ask for is the following:

Adequate security.

Adequate food.

Adequate drink.

Adequate concession stands.

Adequate seating.

Adequate parking.

Adequate bathroom facilities.

Adequate PA system.

From what I understand from more than one of my X friends, many of the above were sorely lacking last Friday night. If Male wants to host the game, are they up to running it in a proper manner?

I was at the game last week and had no problem and I didn't hear any complaints from other X fans.

There were plenty of Sheriff deputies and police.

My Nachos were hot and fresh.

My Coke was cold.

The lines moved well with numerous workers filling orders.

I found a seat..although on the Male side.

I parked in Male's front lot.

I did not pee my pants waiting for the urinal..and I went at halftime.

The PA was loud.

My only complaint was with Male's hospitality....they did not treat the Tigers very well on the field...or the scoreboard....:D

On the other hand, that was a regular-season game, on a night that a lot of other teams had games.

Trinity-Male is the only game in Jefferson County on Friday night.

Anyone got a pic of Male's field? I understand we've had quite a bit of rain and will get some more tonight.

The more I think abou tthe rain soaked field at Male, I think.

1. It does not matter, meaning Male and Trinity players will be running on the same surface therefore it does not matter.

2. Maybe Male should have moved it to PAPA because there would be no slipping due to the turf and help the fast players at Male

Which statement to you agree with????

:argue:

You could play this game in any wheather condition you want and it is still going to be the game of the year.

I didn't say that in the X game they turned people away...but if the weather holds true, bet on this crowd being HUGE.....I know it was the state championship, but the last time these two played there were 20K there. This one will be full. And yes, the fire department can say no more, it has happened at Trinity before.

This one is the State Championship also!!

Trinity athletic office is open from 8-3:30. As of this afternoon (Wed) they had under 1,000 tickets left for sale from their original allocation.

Thanks dr1.....Hope to get there in time today to get mine if not I'll have to get to the game early and get them.

I bet they are out today.

As public school, would Male get to keep game proceeds (rather than the public school district)? If so, what would they be earmarked for? Would Male really have an incentive to have a large gate? Would it really make any difference to them?

as a THS fan I say YES, move the game, big ticket... but I can see why Male wants to keep the game at home

There were around 250-300 left yesterday afternoon around 1PM.

Marshall Stadium can hold about 8,500 people (and that is with a lot of folks without a seat). If we could sell another few thousand tickets at PJCS, you bet the game gets moved. Its a money thing.

"I'd do exactly the same thing," Trinity coach Bob Beatty said. "… It's your backyard. If it's your choice to do that, absolutely, I would do the same thing."

#1 more than #2. The slow school on Shelbyville Road has some guys that aren't as slow as others.

Is the game still at Male??? I figured Redman and Stewart would make the last minute call to play at Papa John's just to throw the fans into a bigger predicament!!! Getting to PJCS from Male in 5 minutes before kickoff.

IT IS ALL A CONSPIRACY!!! :thumb:

Sadly, I don't know that it would be his call. The powers at Trinity had already decided to move the game from "their home field" if X had won. Why would this game be any different. I think if it was Trinity's choice, the game would be moved to PJCS. I understand home field, I was all for playing an X/T game at Marshall if possible. But in the end cooler heads would have moved the game. FYI 85, thats what they call "coachspeak".

On a side note. I just returned from Maxwell Field. Workers are busy lining the field and getting ready for tonight's game. The field looks pretty good. A number of spots seem to have little grass and what grass there is, is dormant. But overall, the footing should be OK. There will be plenty of mud stains (as opposed to grass stains) but the balls should be dry and the track pretty fast. The field shouldn't be a factor in the outcome.
