Just who is it that you think is doing so much damage to the JC program in the eyes of others on this website?

Just for the record, adding in JC's 2 out of state teams record their opponents combined record is 46-54 while Rocks as you said is 50-50. Not that big of a difference if you ask me. The biggest difference is this game is not the strength of schedule of either team, its the playoff experience that Rockcastle possess over JC. JC will have to play a great game to beat a veteran Rock team, anyone who knows football knows that, but the SOS will not factor into this game as you seem to think.

I don't see how you can completely dismiss SOS as a factor. Bottom line: playing a tough schedule toughens up a team and prepares it for every possible scenario it will encounter in the postseason. If you play a weak schedule, you're never seriously tested. Wouldn't you agree that Ashland's playing Raceland, Russell, Belfry and P-burg (all four still alive in the playoff hunt in their respective classes) played a part in them closing the gap between the first and second time they faced JC?

I wasn't referring to you so don't worry about it.

Rock fans... what's your take on PA announcers and speakers? This could be the difference in the gane because it sure appeared to be how JC controlled Ashland? HAHA JK

I do agree that SOS can be a determining factor, but the two teams(JC and RC) are only seperate by 4 wins, its not that big of a deal. Thats what Im pointing at. I dont think that Ashland playing those teams you mentioned had anything to do with them playing close to JC the second time around. It was pure heart, determination, and great coaching showed on Ashlands part that kept them close. Also on that SOS, JC played a team in Bryan Station that lost 3 very close games in Class 4A to Tates Creek, Woodford Co(who upseted a tough Lafayette team), and Lafayette(who finished its regular season undefeated).

 That was a good one.

Lexington Catholic does the same thing. We weren't bothered too much by it last year. I don't look for that to be a problem.

I will say this, after our game against Bell, somebody from Rock was talking to one of our scouts at your game on the phone as your game was coming to an end and he made a reference to the music being very loud. But that was all that was said.

I've added a poll. Vote early and often.

It is almost midnight and the carriage is about to turn into a pumpkin for Johnson Central.

The Rocket coaches have a history of getting 150% from their talent and they will not be out-prepared or out-coached. If JC wins, they are at least 150% better than Rockcastle.

Just one man's opinion.

Go Rock.

Or out scouted... Word to the wise, if Johnson Central signals plays in on either side of the ball they need to go to the wrist band or run the plays in this week.

Just this man's opinion.

SOS is very much a factor. They were talking about it on MNF just a few minutes ago. It's easy to put up huge numbers against weaker teams. For instance, on ESPN.com Page 2's column Tuesday Morning Quarterback (I think that's the column) has made several references against a college in Kansas that has set the national record for points in a season. They go no-huddle and fake punt when ahead by 50. But whenever they get to the Div. II playoffs, they always loose against a descent team.

Congrats on beating 4A Bryan Station. But why didn't you mention in your attempts to make your schedule sound better that they finished the season 2-8? Doesn't matter much how close those games were, that's still not a very good year. You also didn't mention that you beat 4A North Laurel. But they were 3-7. Not so good either. I also might add that you played 1A Paintsville, that finished the season at 5-5 and lost in the first round. I realize that they're probably a rivalry that is played every year. But it doesn't help your cause too much.

Now let's look at Rock's schedule. We played a 4A team too. Lincoln Co. They finished 10-2 and lost by 1 in the playoffs. They lost to PRP who finished 7-4 before loosing to Male. And they lost to GRC in the playoffs who are now 8-4. We lost by 3 points, even though if you watch the film, we had plenty of chances to win. They were ahead 21-0 at the end of the first, and had probably less than 50 yards the rest of the game.

Assuming that one of the out of state teams finished at .500 or better, that means that JC played 4 teams that finished the regular season at .500 or better. Rockcastle played 7.

Belfry? LOL

I am not a JC fan.. just have been following the threads and got a kick out of the numerous PA complaints from Ashland both times they played.

If something external like music can effect the outcome..then the team losing has other things they need to correct to be lasting this deep in the playoffs. I am sure it actually didn't affect the Tomcats and it definately won't hurt the Rock.

Nah, shouldn't affect us. Like I said, LexCath did it last year and it was 21-20 at halftime. It was those dang players on their team that we had so much trouble with. If we could've figured out how to eliminate them, I don't think we could've been stopped.

You're missing my point. To assume JC would roll up 50-some points on Rock just because that's what they've been doing all season is overlooking the obvious fact that JC has played no defense as tough as Rock's. And both teams still made it to the second round of the playoffs — third round in Corbin's case.

LC and Corbin may not be world-beaters, but I feel pretty safe in saying both have defenses better than anything JC has faced this year.

You don't really think JC is going to slice through the Rock defense like a knife through warm butter, do you?

Nowhere have I predicted that JC would score 50 points. When I look at Corbin's record, I can't help but notice that the 'Hounds gave up 62 points to Middlesboro and held Rock to 2. Middlesboro probably sees Corbin's defense a little differently than you do. It looks like Leslie County does have a pretty fair defense, but so do Mason Co. and Ashland and they are 3A schools.

So, you may feel safe saying that both Leslie and Corbin have better defenses than anything JC has faced this year, but that doesn't make it so. Massey does not think that the difference in SOX between JC and RC is that big a deal.

All I am saying is that the early flow of the game could lead to a much different result than you are expecting. Rock may win 42-40 or JC may win 14-12. It all depends on whose style sets the pace early, IMO, and whether turnovers become a factor or not.

In my opinion this game is going to come down to two things: Time of possession and turnovers. I dont see either team breaking off too many big plays in this game. No 70 yard TD's by Grimm on the first play of the game like he was able to do against Ashland. Grimm will get his share of yards, but most are going to come from 2 - 5 yard runs. The same for Rock. Both teams have dominating defenses. This is what highschool football is about, I would love to be able to see this one. These two teams arent going to finess each other to death or be out coached by the other, good smash mouth football, line up and see who's stronger and who wants it more. After this game both teams are going to feel like they went to war. This is the type of game where one turnover could win or lose it.

Have you actually compared the two schedules? I'm not saying look at them. I mean actually do the math. The 8 in state teams that JC played were combined 36-44 or something like that. The WV team that JC played at one time was like 1-5. That's not very good either. Rock's 10 opponents were 50-50, a much better record. That's counting Bourbon Co (0-10) and PCC (1-9). Take those two teams away and the combined record is 49-31. That's a HUGE difference in schedules. You're going to say there's little difference between 36-44 and 50-50?

Seriously! How many times have we went over JC's schedule this football season here on BGP. There have been countless people that have came on here and posted JC's opponents combined record vs. everyone's else's opponents combined record , all of it is irrelevent. We weren't supposed to beat Ashland the first time either because we had played a weak schedule, we all know how that turned out.

Has JC played a weak schedule? Yes. Has it hurt them so far? No. They are 12-0 and playing for a regional championship on Friday. What more could they have possibly done so far this football season. I think it's time to throw the weak schedule stuff out the door.
