Ashland didnt collapse! Johnson Central stepped up, they scored 2 td's late in the 4th quarter to win the game.

I'm not going to argue what you said. HOWEVER, I must ask, wasn't Ashland ahead 21-14 with just a couple of minutes left and fumbled while trying to run out the clock? That's what I heard.

Yes they fumbled late in the game. I cant remember exactly what happened after that. But I do know JC scored on a deep pass play to win the game with only seconds left to go.

Yeah, one of our fans was talking to a scout at the game and getting play by play. So I know most of what happened late. Granted, JC did score the 2 tds to win. But would you not agree that had Ashland not fumbled you probably wouldn't have scored twice, and maybe not have even scored at all? I mean, had they not fumbled, they might have scored to put the game away. Just a thought.

You're wanting to look at the first game of the year? You really think it would 2-0 if they played now? Our QB had never started a game at QB before. He had been a WR until this year. And Dusty Miller got injured in the first game of last year and missed the rest of the season. Both of them took awhile to get things going.

 

I know, and have no doubt Rock would run all over them. It was a crazy game though.

Yes, Ashland totally collapsed and just gave the game away, much like the other 11 opponents the Golden Eagles beat this season. Johnson Central just had the good fortune of showing up on its opponents' worst nights of the season. Hopefully their unbelievable luck will continue and Rockcastle will have its worst night of the millenium. Otherwise, I just don't see how JC has any chance at all.:flame:

JC detractors have pointed all year to how the Golden Eagles have collapsed in past playoffs, despite this only being the second JC team to make the playoffs under Matney. They have also said that JC is too one-dimensional to go deep into the playoffs, but they burnt Ashland with three long TD passes. People have suggested that their lack of close calls would probably cause them to fold in a close game, but they stormed back in the fourth quarter to beat Ashland last week. The win was no fluke.

 

Tradition is great, but Rockcastle is the underdog in this game according to every poll and every computer ranking system in existence. That is no guarantee that the Golden Eagles will win, but you guys who are trying to make Johnson Central into an underdog are just engaging in some wishful thinking. Who knows how this game will play out, but on paper the teams are very even and the home field has got to be worth something. I hope that the Rocks roll into Paintsville after a three hour bus trip thinking that the game is just a tune-up for the following week.

And had Mason County blocked a little better a year ago on a short last second field goal attempt, Rockcastle would not be defending regional champs. Good teams make their own breaks. Let's face it, if your opponent plays mistake-free ball, your team is going to get hammered regardless of the sport. Ashland made more mistakes than Johnson Central, but the Golden Eagles were not just sitting up in the stands watching the Tomcats fumble.

That wasn't the same Ashland team that played all year. The Tomcats looked 20 lbs. larger per man, and transformed in a week. It was the most confident, determined team I've seen in a long time. It was all about JC stepping up and taking the game back, in the last 5 minutes. Ashland didn't collapse so much as Central refused to lose. A little good fortune, yes, but not luck, or anything like that. A fumble hitting the ground and bouncing the right way is luck; executing a play to perfection is something different. You missed a great game, and really had to be there to appreciate it.

Ummm.....what post did you read, because I didn't say anything that you responded to, almost rudely I might add. For one, if you read CLOSELY, I asked a question which means that I don't know. All I was after was a simple answer. Instead I get some person being a jerk and saying that I said every win you have this year was a fluke. Quote for me where I said that. You won't find it. I know JC is a good team. They have to be in order to be here. I've never EVER said anything about what JC has done in past years. Because, frankly, I have no idea. So don't accuse me of that.

As for the 3 hour bus ride. It shouldn't hurt us. We've done it many times before. In fact, we rode 4 hours to play your coach and Sheldon Clark and we came away with that one. So the bus ride is a mute point.

Ashland took over after the kickoff and may have gotten a first down, but 3 or 4 times they went to the air and had their passes broken up. They punted, and the ball hit at the JC 40, and rolled all the way to the 16. Five plays later, JC scored with about 11 seconds remaining.

What are you smoking? Do you even have a clue? Last year Rock could've stayed on the sidelines on the last second FG attempt and he STILL would've missed it. You know why? Because he fell down when he planted his foot. It's not because we blocked it and they had horrible blocking. We didn't touch the ball. And it was like a 35-40 yard FG. That's not exactly a gimme anyway.

Ok, well as the guy was telling us this, perhaps it had already happened and he was recapping it. The way he told it, he said there was like 2 minutes left and then he told us about the fumble and the TE streak down the middle of the field to tie the game. I guess I misunderstood at what point of the game these plays took place. Thank you for explaining it in a rational fashion.
