I thought it was pretty funny...

I have seen both teams play and the question is, is when Rock puts 9 in the box can JC throw it? I think they cant, Rock is 2 dimensional and can run it and throw it. I like Rock because they have played 3 tougher opponents then anyone on JC's schedule in Bell x2 and Lincoln. Also Rock has experience in these types of games. This should be mountain football at its finest.

I think the 3 touchdown passes in the Ashland game has silenced some critics about JC's passing game. But hopefully we won't have to pass the ball to much.

I'd say a Bell County team averaging 28 ppg would've said the same thing before Friday if you would've told them they'd be shut out.

Rockcastle has struggled more to put points on the board this season (and Corbin is now powerhouse) than Johnson Central. The game may be a defensive struggle, but if Johnson Central continues taking care of the football, they will make a much better showing than Bell County did.

You're going to look at the first game of the year and make an observation from that? The only game Rock lost was to Lincoln Co (10-2) by 3 points. Besides, Rock's schedule was CLEARLY a tougher schedule. Look at the win/loss records of their opponents. Rock's opponents clearly has a better combined record. Plus, not to toot our own horn, but JC hasn't played Rock's defense this year.

 

61 points the first time on Clay, 39 the next. 47 on Harrison Co. Both of those playoff teams. 74 on Bourbon, 41 on LCC, 54 on Madison Southern, 48 on PCC. You call that struggling to score? I admit, it's not the same offense of a few years back. BUT....our QB had never played QB until this year and our HB Dusty Miller was injured in the first game last year and missed the rest of the season and he's not doing too bad this year if you haven't noticed. What does this mean?? Not much, besides the fact that we don't really struggle to put points up......but our opponents do.

Geez, these numbers are Johnson Central like! :thumb: As I said earlier, JC is looking in the mirror at a team that puts up lots of points and doesn't give up many. Rock shut Bell out while only scoring 13. I think 13 is the losing score in this game, and hope JC's defense can hold Rock to that. Ashalnd was the only team to score more than 2 TDs on JC. We may find that both teams will have to test their passing games Friday night...

The Rocks have scored a lot of points against the weaker teams on their schedule. Of the teams that you listed, I will concede that Harrison had a decent team. With nearly everybody returning from a regional championship team, I don't think anybody expected Rockcastle to struggle against Corbin, regardless of when the game was played. Everybody knows that the Rocks are a much better team than they were then, but what did they do in the off season to get off to such a slow start with so many starters returning?

While any prediction is speculation, its especially true when teams with no common opponents meet. I have no idea who will win, and therefore won't be too surprised either way. Strength of schedule is meaningless, because it ignores all other relevant factors. The only thing that matters is who is better at this point in the season, and that's anyone's guess. Teams can change seemingly overnight. Ashland proved that Friday night, and I would venture to say that had Ashland played that way all year, they would be undefeated and hosting Rock this weekend. With that said, and with no basis whatsoever...

Have you actually compared the two schedules? I'm not saying look at them. I mean actually do the math. The 8 in state teams that JC played were combined 36-44 or something like that. The WV team that JC played at one time was like 1-5. That's not very good either. Rock's 10 opponents were 50-50, a much better record. That's counting Bourbon Co (0-10) and PCC (1-9). Take those two teams away and the combined record is 49-31. That's a HUGE difference in schedules. You're going to say there's little difference between 36-44 and 50-50?
