UofL yanking scholarships

Featured Replies

To me this isn’t a U of L Petrino debate, its a college football debate. I would have the same stance if it was UK.

However, If you look at the U of L situation, Petrino then employed by U of L made a commitment to a HS player. Petrino left and according to the article Tyra the AD employed by the University reached out to the commits and stood behind the offers...now the new Coach comes in, Tyra says do whatever you need to do... to me that’s shady.

The offer isn’t from UofL. It’s for UofL. When Petrino left, any offers cease to exist unless the new coach wants to offer the same players in which case he has to re-offer the player. UofL is not affiliated with the offer. They are giving the coach the ability to offer players. The offer is from the coach so if the coach is no longer employed by the university the coach doesn’t have anything to offer.

Satterfield said today it would be disservice to a kid, to bring them in knowing they wouldn’t play in his system. He said it gives them time to find another school since still have February signing period.

Good Lord dude, relax, who is bashing UL and what facts are optional? You couldn't look more defensive right now, take a breath.

Here is the quote from the C-J: After evaluation, Satterfield had Nochta make calls Sunday night to revoke the scholarships offers, which shocked the prospects affected.

If there is more to the story than that, I don't know it, but I think a lot of head coaches would have made that life-altering phone call themselves. Nothing more, and nothing less. No one is bashing UL, but good Lord, the chip on your shoulder is crazy. If you took my post as "bashing" you need to realign your filter settings.

I tried to like this post twice, doesn’t work for those wondering.

Is Franklin-Simpson the only school to ban UL?

Did I quote you and say you were bashing UofL?

Pete Nochta is the one who has been doing the recruiting, and literally the only person still on staff that has ever talked to most of the recruits. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to understand why it would make sense that he would be the one to make the call.

As far as who is bashing UofL, this thread was started for that purpose. Am I supposed to be sorry for defending UofL, especially when people are passing judgement based on things that weren’t said/done? :lol2:

So you mean the guy that spend the time and effort building a relationship with the kid and his family wanted to be the one to make the call and let him know what was going on? Dang, seems like the staff handled it absolutely perfectly. Amazing how that detail was never shared before now.

Crazy huh?

So Franklin-Simpson banned UofL from campus according to KSR.

Stupid move by FS head coach.

That’ll teach ‘em. Pretty ignorant thing for a high school coach to do.

Everyone, please, stick to the issues, not each other.

I just jumped back into this thread, did Franklin-Simpson really ban Louisville?

If they did, shame on Franklin-Simpson.

And two, I don't think they can ban them. Ultimately it is one government agency banning another government agency and that dog don't hunt.

If the coach really did that, IMO that’s a fireable offense. You’re actively hindering any potential college caliber players on your team by doing so.

I agree, I would look at termination as an option too.

It is a coaches job to win games. Period. If a kid cannot help the team do that, then there is no reason to tie up a scholarship when it can be used by someone else better suited to fill the role.

Heaven forbid the guy doing what’s best to keep his job.

There are a lot of HS coaches that take this stance if they feel like colleges screw over their kid.

Colleges don't worry about that school if they don't produce a lot of D1 talent. U of L wouldn't have pulled those scholarships if those kids played at Trinity!

The last staff wasn't even recruiting Trinity, so FS should be glad they were even looked at in the first place.
