Is Dak Prescott the Cowboys’ Franchise Quarterback?

Featured Replies

I’m not convinced.

The worst thing to happen to Dak Prescott was 2016. He played behind the best O line in NFL history. It really hindered his development as a QB.

I don't know if it really hindered his development, although I certainly understand how you could make that point. I just think that offensive line and running game was so good, it was going to take him being pretty terrible to show any signs of concern for him. They made him look better than he may actually be as an NFL quarterback. Almost anybody could have had success behind that line.

I vote no on him being a franchise QB. Makes Dalton look like Joe Montana.

Was it that or was it that he was new to the scene and no one had film on him enough to get the tendencies and things he does as a QB?

I have always been a fan of the Cowboys because they are always on TV.

However, last night I was a little frustrated with Dak and the Cowboys.

In short, I think Dak is in the bottom tier of NFL starters and I don't expect the Cowboys to do much as long has he is the starter.

Both.

I don’t see how playing behind a great o line hinders development. Especially when you look at how QB’s have had careers torpedoed by playing behind bad o lines.

Dak has been hurt by not having any real playmakers aside from Elliot. While I don’t think he’s anywhere near a top tier (or even middle tier QB), the Cowboys haven’t done much to help him out.

I think it hindered his development because it didn’t allow him to grow his craft as a QB. Instead of learning to drive he was given a car that steered itself and all he needed to do was hit the gas or brake. That offense they ran in 2016 could be run by every single QB in the NFL and had basically the same production as Dak. Makes me wonder what would have happened had Romo not gotten hurt.

Last night I saw Dak making terrible decisions and terrible throws. Trying to force that pass into double coverage in the end zone and then getting it picked off is a decision I would be mad if a rookie quarterback did in his first game. I don't think he is even an average starting quarterback, let alone a franchise one.

I'd put all of those guys ahead of Dak....That puts him at 24th best QB at best in the league? Yikes. Dallas can do better.

Let's not forget that the guy was picked somewhere in the 130's in the draft. It's not like many people thought he was a franchise guy going in.

It wasnt you but I remember someone in 2016 saying he was a top 10 qb. You are right he benefited from a great line and running game. Same kind of thing I stated when me and you discussed Elliott when you stated he was the best in the nfl. He benefitted from that same great line.

Elliott though unlike Dak is a very good running back and that o line made him look unstoppable. Dak is a bad to average qb and that line made him look good.

83 three hundred yard passers, Dak isn't one of them.
