Is the death penalty an option in Kentucky?

Yes, it will take 20 years though with appeals.

We live is such a soft target world, and this kind of worry has gone through my mind before when grocery shopping how you just never know what kind of mental case freak might be in the store that day. Not just the grocery store obviously, but almost anywhere.

Definitely a hate crime.

Dude should never (and won't) see the light of day again.

This is horrible beyond words. The photo of the grandfather who was shot...and knowing that his 12 year old grandson saw if happen just breaks my heart. They had stopped to get posterboard for a school project.

That got me too. Can't imagine what that kid is going through.

One of my colleagues just posted on Facebook that she used to work at the school that the grandson attended. She said that the grandfather always picked him up every day and used to bring hot chocolate to the teachers that worked the car pickup line in the winter.

Absolutely breaks my heart.

Pure Evil.

So the facts of this case that clearly seem to make it a racially motivated shooting:

Both victims shot and killed by Gregory Bush, who is a 51 year old white man, were black and by all reports were randomly selected and complete strangers to Bush.

Immediately after exiting the Kroger store and shooting the second victim in the parking lot, Bush was confronted by an elderly Ed Harrell, who had his concealed carry firearm pulled but not aimed. Harrell yelled to Bush and asked what was going on, and Bush reportedly told Harrell, "Don’t shoot me. I won't shoot you. Whites don’t shoot whites."

Jeffersontown police have confirmed that 10-15 minutes prior to the shooting, they have obtained security camera footage from the First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown showing Bush trying unsuccessfully to gain access to the church with his gun. The First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown is a predominantly black church congregation.

Police and news reports have confirmed that Bush's social media accounts include multiple racially charged comments, in addition to comments from Bush how he has battled mental illness and schizophrenia.

Dude deserves the chair.

Dude deserves the chair.

Dude deserves to be driven right down to the neighborhood where he tried to enter the church and released. Let them take care of it. But I suppose the needle will have to do.

I wonder if the alleged mental issues won't end up keeping capital punishment off the table.

If he at some point pleads guilty, it will take the DP off of the table.
