Throughout FBS college football and the NFL only two team in the state of Ohio won football games this weekend and both were because they played teams also in the state of Ohio. What a horrific weekend of football.

Saban with Bama does not lose games like this.

Now Saban with other teams lost games he should not have.

 

Urban is with a school where he should be like Saban is now.

 

As crazy as this sounds: Nick Saban is the most underrated football coach in college. He will never get his just due as a coach because of his recruiting prowess.

I still think the Iowa loss last year was a more heartbreaking loss than this. The loss last year came off one of the most exciting games I’ve ever seen against a really good team. That loss was just unexpected. While I wouldn’t have bet on OSU losing against Purdue, I did expect a bad game from OSU and Purdue winning wouldn’t have shocked me in the slightest.

 

I think the Iowa loss was certainly more surprising to me. This one, I hate to say it, I saw coming. There were too many instances of things in the preceeding weeks that never got fixed. It was just a matter of time. And truth be told, if they don't address these issues, this won't be their only loss either.

 

In all honesty, I have to wonder now if Bosa didn't see this coming as well. Figured that they weren't likely to make the playoffs, let alone win it...so, might as well get out now.

I think there were some underlying issues that we were blinded too before the Iowa game. A lot of them are the same issues as this year most notably extremely poor linebacker play. It’s been a poor bet to say Ohio State won’t get it turned around after a loss. They’ve basically proven that to be true my entire lifetime outside of the Fickell year. I think we’ll be alright once we are back at full strength.

I've been thinking about this. If Brohm comes to UL, will the Cardinal fans have super high and perhaps unrealistic expectations about his performance? Will they give him time to develop a team? There is a lot of hunger for Brohm in the Ville.

Looking ahead, Purdue has the easiest path to the Big 10 championship game. They avoid Michigan and Penn State and get Iowa and Wisconsin at home. Northwestern needs to lose a game down the stretch but they almost lost to Rutgers this week so I don’t think that will be an issue. I saying this knowing good and well that Purdue will lay the biggest egg ever this Saturday in East Lansing.

Well hopefully this is the 10% of the time. As great as Urban is, we both know this is what separates him from Saban. Saban doesn’t wait til a loss to make changes.

I’m confused about what your point is fc? Urban isn’t Saban? You think we’re oblivious to that? Both are stubborn as hell, the biggest difference between the two is Urban has been stubborn to a fault. Like I said earlier in this thread, the team hasn’t looked the same on offense since Urban came back. Reporters around the program (most notably former players who still have access), are saying Urban has been hands off with the play calling and game plan since he has returned. It makes sense the offense was rolling in the 3 games he was gone. The passing game is still dynamic, but the running game is completely disintegrated. If I like many others put two and two together that said Urban came back and ruined the momentum the offense had with Day, but it appears it was quite the opposite and teams simply adjusted to the offense we are running and basically said you are going to get your passing yards anyways but we will stop the run at all cost and this is what’s happened. Haskins is no threat to pull it on a read option and the more football illiterate Ohio State fans keep pointing to this as the issue. Ohio State runs 2-3 true read options every game. The rest are the infamous RPO plays where Haskins either has a bubble screen or quick slant if he likes the defense or he can hand it off. We need to simplify the running game. Bring Farrell and Berry onto the line and go more 2 wr sets. But ever since the NC, Urban has had some unfortunate issues with assistants. Ed Warriner is a fantastic O line coach. Probably one of the top 2-3 coaches in the country. When Herman left he was promoted to OC. He stunk as an OC. Is he going to take a demotion? No. He’s going to take an OC position at Minnesota. He stunk there too and now has come full circle to be the o line coach at... Michigan :puke: Luke Fickell has coached basically every great OSU linebacker in my lifetime, he’s now gone, same with the DBs and Coach Coombs. The glaring weak spot on Urbans staff was the now infamous WR coach but now the receivers are the biggest bright spot on the team outside of Haskins. But there’s no room for excuses at Ohio State. You don’t lose to Purdue and Iowa. But I still really like this team and you’re playing with fire betting against an Urban Meyer coach team not rebounding after a loss.

Who has said they won't rebound? The only team of any concern left for them is Michigan, we'll see what they're made of then but, that's not the issue. The issue is if OSU would deserve to jump Texas or Oklahoma if one of those two win out so long as Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU or Georgia is part of 3 of the top 4 (especially if Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame are there). I say no way.

In general, Louisville fans expectations aren't that high. Make a bowl game every year, and every few years make a big bowl game and beat somebody you're not expected to.

Never once did I say they wouldn't rebound. What I am saying I don't care what they do the rest of the way. Unless other teams completely tank. OSU should not be deserving of be rewarded as being one of the top 4 best teams in the country. Top 4 best teams in the county don't get beat down by a bad team.

 

With that said I think it will be a mute point. I said after Notre Dame beat Michigan and I have a friend bet with JA on it. That Michigan would beat OSU finally this year. I said that at the beginning of the season after Michigan lost. So zero reason for me to believe other wise now. So most likely won't even have to worry about a 1 lost OSU even being in the discussion. Which they shouldn't be in the discussion even with 1 lost unless other teams help them out in drastic way.
