Yep. Also of those 3 teams that were undefeated going into the playoffs, (2014 FSU, 2015 Clemson, 2016 Alabama) none of them won the title. We’re getting way ahead of ourselves here if we say any of the top teams are done if they lose a game.

Around this time each year we always have these scenarios playing out with multiple undefeated teams. It just doesn't happen. One is the norm, two is not uncommon, three seldom happens. I might be wrong, but the only year I can think of with three Power 5 (6) schools being undefeated is 2004 when Auburn was left out of the title game. (This was apparently before "SEC bias" existed ;))

@nkufan23 who do you think will get that 4th playoff spot since you put “other” in the poll?

I think Boise State back when they had Kellen Moore could have had a chance to do something in a playoff. They shown they could beat a true top team when they played them. UCF hasn't shown that, and so I agree. It would have to take a lot for them to be in and for me to want them to be in. I wanted Boise State to get a shot because I thought they could truly play with anyone. I don't see that with UCF.

Boise State had something UCF doesn’t and that’s Chris Petersen. I watched recap of that game against Oklahoma and Petersen’s play calling in that game might have been the single most impressive performance I’ve ever seen. He gets remembered for the Statue of Liberty play but he was electric the whole game with his play calling.

Yep and those Boise State teams then also went out and got a big win over a top power 5 program like a Virginia Tech and Oregon. Boise State proved they could play with top teams. If this was the Boise State teams from back then, I would say they should get true consideration for the playoff. UCF don't really have those few big wins like Boise had.

Exactly. Boise State got into the Fiesta Bowl before it was a requirement to put a non power 5 (back then power 6) team in a BCS bowl game.

UCF is a good football team. There are about 30 to 40 teams in the power five conference that would be undefeated if they played UCF's schedule. Are those 40 teams also deserving to be in the playoffs?

I can think of 20 from the SEC and Big 10 alone who would be undefeated playing UCF schedule.

Alabama

Ohio State

Notre Dame

NC State (I feel like they beat Clemson and run the table the rest of the way)

Out of the box. I like it.

I'd say as of now the top 4 would be:

Bama

Clemson

LSU

Notre Dame

I’ll say again, congrats Bama on another title.

I think that it’s fair to say that more so now than any at this point of the season. If LSU doesn’t beat them when they play, no one else has a chance.
