If Urban is guilty of anything it’s his undying loyalty to Earle Bruce. It wasn’t because Urban cared about winning more than domestic violence. Anyone that is familiar with the OSU program knows that Smith was virtually useless and was known more for his twitter usage than anything he did developing wide receivers. Urban definitely didn’t keep Smith on because he was helping them win he kept him on because he was doing a favor to his mentor (who I’m definitely assuming knew nothing of this).

 

Tressel was fired for something not nearly as bad as this. Let’s see if OSU has the cahonas to do the same to Urban. I’ll bet they don’t.

I’m asking a legit question here, the clause in his contract that he is supposed to report this to his superiors or he could be fired with cause was just added to his contract earlier this year. The date in question was in 2015. How exactly does that work? I’m not saying Urban shouldn’t be fired if he knew simply because there wasn’t a clause in his contract, but would OSU have cause to fire him in a legal sense?

Not really. He gave him a chance, he did it again and Saban canned him. Urban, he just swept it under the rug.

So far we have communication between Smith and Urban's wives detailing the abuse with pictures. Urban can throw his wife under the bus (also an employee at OSU) and possibly save himself by saying she didn't tell him anything. McMurphy says he has more evidence to release. We'll see...

OSU doesn’t mess around. Tress was beloved in Columbus, yeah some fans were getting restless because they laid some eggs on the grand stage, but when Tress was fired they were coming off a Sugar Bowl win and returned a Heisman trophy contender at QB. Add in the fact that Tress basically wiped Ann Arbor’s off the map of college football and I believe Tress had an almost similar cache built up that Meyer has and OSU didn’t bat an eye forcing him to resign.

I caught pieces of info on the ride home tonight. Something was said that all the coaches wives knew about it. I dont by then that the university didnt know already. At the same time what did they know about, what crime. Technically there wasnt one.

I think this is a case of the university needs to figure out how to cover their butts and it has little to do with Urban at this point.

They are under obligation by title IX to conduct an investigation. You can’t do that and have Urban inside the halls of the program running the team at the same time.

I was just listening to JT the brick on my way home and caught the end of an interview with somebody from TMZ. Supposedly they are working on this story and have information that will make all this seem worse. Said he can't comment right now but hopefully they will be at a point to take this information public tomorrow. I guess we will see.

It would depend on how the clause was written. Obviously they put it in there for a reason. The date it was written wouldn't matter as much as the date they may have asked him to disclose said information from.
