I wouldn’t be shocked if we never find out any more information than we already know. Either he’ll be fired or he’ll keep his job. I think no matter what ends up happening, there is going to be speculation that will keep this same conversation going forever. If he’s fired then you’ll have fans say there isn’t enough evidence to pin him and if he’s stayed you’ll have people say there was more than enough evidence to pin him. Either way I’m thinking we won’t have any evidence that will prove guilt or exonerate.

There will be questions for them to answer, for sure. The thing with Fickell is he wasn’t part of the Urban coaching tree when they arrived, so it isn’t clear how tight he was with that circle that joined him in Columbus when Urban was hired. He was the lone holdover, and was always seen as more of an outsider by Urban’s “guys”. That gives him a little cover here, but if more evidence does hit it could spray in any direction...

When I say he's gone I'm just looking at things from an unbiased perspective though. OSU I taking the proper steps to fire him without having to lose a lawsuit, so my guess is he's already gone. That said, there will be a lot of negative media directed in OSU's direction if they keep him. If they didn't already plan on firing him I really don't think they would have put him on administrative leave.

I get it, if I was bias toward the university or him I would look at the glass half full as opposed to half empty as well. Nothing wrong with that.

What I keep circling back to is what exactly is in it for Urban to lie about this? He told us he was aware of past incidents with Smith while at UF in 2009 so it wasn’t like he was hiding Zach’s past completely, just 2015. Again what is in it for Urban to lie about it? He already fired the guy by the time of the Big 10 press conference, what would he gain by trying to cover up 2015? Especially when all he would have had to say is he had a discussion with Smith in 2015 and decided there wasn’t enough evidence in his mind to incriminate him and in hindsight would have handled things differently? The easy answer to me is maybe he didn’t know? Is that even possible? Should he have known? If Urban continues to declare he didn’t know, then how does this differ from the Pitino situation at UL? Is knowing what your players and recruits are doing different than knowing what is going on in the personal lives of your adult assistant coaches? Shelly has mentioned that the Meyers have sat down and counseled the Smiths with their marriage, does this help Urbans image in the situation? So many questions, no answers.

A) Zach never told Urban about the 2015 police incident and since he wasn’t arrested or charged nothing came out.

 

B) Courtney Smith sealed (known fact not reported in this thread yet) the documents in 2015 associated with those reports to keep Zach's name out of the media so he could keep his job.

After his allegations of wrong doing by Stan Heath, that he could never prove, the Tampa Tribune finally fired him. I haven't respected him as a journalist since long before the USF/Jim Leavitt fiasco.

Urban just needs to fake a heart attack and let all this blow over.
