Where is the outcry then? Everyone here is adament Urban should be fired and if he is retained this will be a year long story. How long did the Izzo stuff last? Two days? Maybe?

At the University of Florida, they essentially have a shrine outside their stadium. The one person you can't find anything about is Urban Meyer. That says a lot, in my opinion.

I'm not justifying his actions if they turn out to be true. I've said several times he should probably be fired if he knew the severity of the abuse in 2015. What I'm arguing with you about is the lack of giving a damn when it doesn't involve OSU, UL, or Duke.

I wasn't on BGP then. But I gave Joe Pa the benefit of the doubt. When people prove to me they deserve it, I'll give it to them until they prove otherwise. Joe Pa earned that and Urban has earned that since he's been at OSU.

You serious Clark? You said he fired him at florida so why wouldn’t he do that at tOSU. Well if he did fire him, it was kept under raps allowing him to go to somewhere else and coach, then he allowed him back on his staff at tOSU. It’s pretty clear to everyone else but you :idunno:

I don’t believe they didn’t have a conversation, I just think the conversation went something more along the lines of, “the Smiths are still having issues, why don’t you talk to Zach and see what you can find out and I’ll do everything I can to help Courtney.” Urban knew they had issues, what he may not have known is the severity of the issue. Besides being his assistant coach, The Meyers and the Smiths were friends and the Meyers had spent time before counseling the Smith’s on their marriage. There is still nothing in it for Meyer to lie about any abuse he knew about in 2015 because he had already fired him and spoken about the abuse he did know about in 2009. Why if he knew about 2015 would he not come out and say it?

 

It is a weird one. Easy to judge. OSU is one of the football programs I dislike the most. But how in the hell can you know what he knew and to what extent? Obviously domestic abuse is a terrible thing but why would the accountability fall to your boss? He isn't in their house every night. I have friends that have had some problems. So if I don't swing into their house on a chandelier every time they have a fight I should lose my job? If you step back its kind of crazy to lose your job over your employee being a bad husband. If there is cover ups and proof of blatant lying it is an issue though.

This isn’t a criminal trial for Urban. You don’t need “beyond a reasonable doubt.” This is more of a civil issue where it’s more “preponderance of the evidence”. Way too much smoke here for there to be no fire.

He was a GA at UF. He allowed him back on his staff because he was doing a favor to his mentor nothing more, nothing less.
