May 22, 20188 yr Well Glocks hadn't been invented yet, but the majority of Glocks shoot 9mm and .40cal which are very similar to .38's. .357s, .44s, .45s were all common back then. Where did everyone grow up that guns were so commonly seen out and about?? I grew up in a country suburban in the 70's and 80's area loaded with hunters and never saw anyone just carrying guns around, especially .357's, .44's etc.

Most of the guns I saw belonged to uncles, cousins, grandpas or close friends.

But still, I hear it mentioned all the time that every pickup had a gun rack (with a gun in it), and that guns were a common site in years gone by. Perhaps this was before my time.

I saw a guy with a gun on his hip with swimming trunks on gassing his boat. Come on, man ?! When I was a kid guns came out when you shot something, Otherwise they were in the closet.

When not in use, guns and ammunition must be stored under lock and key. Enacting that will save lots of young children, even if not from school shootings, but by toddlers finding guns and killing themselves or others. It is said that his father owned the guns legally. How did he obtain them? If private sale or gun show, I'd require the same background check and three day waiting period that is supposed to be required at any store that sells a gun. Without knowing more details, I don't know if any of my other proposals would apply. In addition, I have some non-gun regulations and procedures to recommend, but again, I don't know all of the details of this incident.

Again, I hung with a different crowd in the 70’s n early 80’s. Never had a friend with a 357 or 45. Or for that matter anything that held more than eight bullets.
