April 17, 20188 yr If Kaepernick is as bad a QB as some say then why did the media cover it in the first place? Exactly. Just don't cover it and it goes away.
April 17, 20188 yr I disagree whole heartedly. When you have a talent like Rodgers the media would choose to ignore his protests and focus solely on his play. Kap isn’t good enough to earn that kind of cache. If Brady or Rodgers kneel instead of Kap this story would have been dead a month after it started. To make a statement like this then I can’t help but assume that you believe that white privilege is 100% real and not a myth. Am I wrong?
April 17, 20188 yr Few things to point out instead of responding to each post. 1) I do think we try to nitpick reasons to go against someone when they are not wanted. Truth. However, there is the narrative that people began thinking Kaep was "not good" once he started taking a knee. It was documented well before the protest stuff that he was at odds with management over his injury treatment and commitment to his craft. That didn't start with the kneeling. Many thought he was a product of Jim Harbaugh, which that theory hasn't been disproven in full, though the Kaep side can argue has hasn't had a fair shake since then. Probably some elements of both in there. 2) A big chunk of teams only carry two QBs now, not three.
April 17, 20188 yr If Kaepernick is as bad a QB as some say then why did the media cover it in the first place? ESPN was going through a time when they liked to report on issues more than they did sports. Probably not accurate, but it sure felt that way with what they were doing with the 6pm time slot.

How was that theory not disproven when he threw for 16 and 4 in the 12 games he played in when he returned from injury and was 100%? 2.) We’ve already established that he could start for at least 12 teams so that leaves 44 available spots that he is capable of playing in, correct?
April 17, 20188 yr ESPN was going through a time when they liked to report on issues more than they did sports. Probably not accurate, but it sure felt that way with what they were doing with the 6pm time slot. That is false. Jemele and Michael talked about sports at 6pm. Don’t confuse her twitter account with her previous television show.
April 17, 20188 yr Haven't we seen people at Johnny Manziel workouts lately, and discussing a return to the NFL? Manziel is trying to get anybody to look at him, claiming he is a changed person and is ready now. Nobody's buying though. Last I heard, he was planning on going to the CFL to try and prove himself.
April 17, 20188 yr That is false. Jemele and Michael talked about sports at 6pm. Don’t confuse her twitter account with her previous television show. I'm not sure what she does on Twitter because I don't follow her. But they were pretty consistently discussing issues during that 6pm time slot and it drove a lot of people, myself included away. From what I've seen, its back more to what they used to do now.

Colin Kaepernick is an issue worth discussing. Everyone discussed Kaepernick. Even Fox News.

Granted it it a discussion for another thread but finding video clips of them not talking sports and only issues on SC6 is pretty hard to find. I have yet to see any.

Well, in his last 3 seasons at SF he was 11 and 24 in games he started. His last year he was 1-10. Granted those teams were not very good but we all know the QB in the NFL gets the blame for losses.

Granted those teams were not very good but we all know the QB in the NFL gets the blame for losses. Agreed. But if we are talking wins/losses/Kaepernick then the QBs I listed earlier as debatable being better than Kaep all have losing records in the last three seasons. In fact Carr, Winston and Mariota all have losing records for their careers and Eli has had one winning season since 2013. Winston signed a 21M dollar contract extension today.

I am not debating that he has not done enough to deserve a spot on a roster, if we are talking play alone. As I said, elements of both sides in there. I do not think his style of play is conducive to building a franchise around, but I have thought that since he began. As did SF which always had outs with his contract.
April 17, 20188 yr There is no doubt in my mind that teams won't touch him because of the baggage or, more than likely, the attention he brings that will be negative. There is also no doubt in my mind if his talent level were at the level of his Super Bowl year someone would sign him. He just was not very good his last two seasons, he has now been out of the league for two years. You couple those two things with the baggage (perceived or not), he just isn't worth it. Pretty sad in many ways to me, but the reality IMO.

I'm not saying it's just win/loss. It's also not just stats. It's the entire story. There are only 2 seasons that the 4 QB's you mentioned all started in the same seasons. I looked at stats for those 2 seasons and tried to pull out numbers that would be good measures. I put listed them as an avg per game number so not to give away who is who. Based on the below who you taking for those seasons? Included are Kap, Carr, Eli, and Winston

2015

Cmp% Yd/Gm TD/Gm Int/Gm Rate Win %

58.3 252.63 1.38 0.94 84.2 37.50%

59 201.88 0.75 0.63 78.5 25.00%

62.6 277.00 2.19 0.88 93.6 37.50%

61.1 249.19 2.00 0.81 91.1 43.75%

2016

Cmp% Yd/Gm TD/Gm Int/Gm Rate Win %

63 251.69 1.63 1.00 86 68.75%

60.8 255.63 1.75 1.13 86.1 56.25%

59.2 203.73 1.45 0.36 90.7 9.09%

63.8 262.47 1.87 0.40 96.7 80.00%
