Kansas State 61 Kentucky 58

Just rewatched last 10 minutes. I have been overly critical of Knox seeming to disappear in many games. Not last night, the man worked his tail off trying to free himself. Got to hand it to KS, their physical defense just took the Cats out of their offense. KS deserved this victory. Our guard play down the stretch just wasn't smart. Fouling P.J. and preventing his shot release was brilliant. Not quite as obvious as Hack-a-Shack, but as effective.

Knox ran about 20 miles last night trying to get open. However, if Brown is causing him issues, what will defenders in the NBA do? At that point use planB and take him to the post and make him foul you.

I think that is just good basketball. Brown was giving up 4+ inches to Knox. If he isn’t letting you catch the ball in the short corner or wing, then post him up.

That was nerves last night. It got in his head. You could see him short arm it and try to make it go in with body English. He had the yips. I feel for him. He played extremely hard.

I really feel for Washington this morning. He knew he had the team on his shoulders last night and knew he had to hit FTs down the stretch. Your comment about being in his head is accurate for sure.

Sort of thought that burning a timeout and pulling him off to side to calm him may have been a good thing. Maybe it helps, maybe not. But that FT line is a lonely place in a tight big game.

Kansas State punched Kentucky in the mouth early, controlled the tempo of the game and refused to get behind.

Their style of play and solid defense made Kentucky look really young and inexperienced.

It'll never happen, probably ever again, but just once...I wish Calipari's kids would get ticked off and decide to come back and get revenge.

Unfortunately, a few will feel they have to go because they will be top 20 picks, a few will make terrible decisions and go anyways and the Wildcats will be right back where they are...again.

I don't care what team you root for, the refs made it impossible to enjoy watching that game. Even had UK won, while I would have been happy with the result, I was miserable watching the game. Almost to the point that I wanted to just quit watching and read about who won later. No flow at all.

If someone were a top 20 pick, why would it be unfortunate they leave?

I don't care what they do. It is what it is. I'm sure I would take millions of dollars too.

All of that leads to the lesson of this season for UK ...

Make sure you have players who can shoot the three. That is where we are in basketball nowadays. The three matters more than anything else.

After thinking long and hard about the nickname for this year's team...

..."The Unshootables".

First time all year Shai couldn't get to the rim at will. Credit Kansas State defensively it was the best defense I think the Cats saw all year. The worst part is this just isn't a very good Kansas State team.

This was EXACTLY how KState wanted it to go. Maybe not have #20 foul out w/ Wade hurt, but slow and sloppy. UC and KState just scream old Huggins blue print. Out tough you, and if they hit shots, they will win b/c they take skilled players out of their comfort zone.

Every one is coming down on Washington, but what about Cal allowing Gilgeous-Alexander to continue to penetrate. I know that he had great success lately, but it was obvious that the kid was overwhelmed yesterday. He had 4 crucial trips down the floor with 3 TOs in the 2nd half. Each penetration they stopped the drive, collapsed, and he didn't know how to react. It translated over to his defense. At that time, I would have just kept feeding Washington.

So frustrating!! Tired of seeing the most athletic/slashing team walk the ball up the floor and play against a set defense all night. Shame they cannot even get to 60.
