But so many, like yourself, said this team wouldn't make it outta the first weekend. Hell, some even said they wouldn't make the tournament. Well they did and making it to the weekend means they went on a run.
March 23, 20188 yr Author Tonight was a lot of first: K-State first ever win vs the Cats. Cal's first loss in the sweet 16 at Kentucky, and snapped a 8 game Sweet 16 winning streak.
March 23, 20188 yr I think some including me said Cal would have the team playing it's best come tourny time and would be a real threat to make a torunament run. Which they was. However in this tournament all it takes is one loss and you are out. As Gonzaga also just found out in its 15 point loss to a 9 seed. I absolutely love this tournament, but it definitely is hard as heck to win it all. If it was a playoff series type torunament we probably have 2 more titles under Cal in 2010 and 2015. However that's what makes winning it so special, because it definitely is a tough task to win it all. The tournament is good for all the wrong reasons. Over coached and gimmickiness describe it best. Saying that, I am a sucker for it.

Tired old claim people always like to make about UK under Cal. By the way, in this game K. State 63.6% from the line and UK was 62.2% from the line. So should we start saying Bruce Webber teams are bad free throw shooting teams?

March 23, 20188 yr I love how the haters had no guts to show up for a month and suddenly are all over this thread when UK loses in the Sweet 16. Bottom line, this team exceeded expectations from where they were a month ago. Got to the Sweet 16 without Vanderbilt. Heck of a job getting it put together by Cal. Sure, it would have been nice to win another game or two, but I don't think there is one rational UK fan who thought this UK team was going to win a title.
March 23, 20188 yr No, result was bc defense by both teams was a hack fest and instead of a pull up jumper mindset, it was I’m going to run over you. Sure was a ton of people from other fanbases, that would probably prefer to see UK lose, talk about how awful the game was to watch due to the officials and them not allowing any type of flow. Certainly wasnt the officials fault that UK lost, but pretending they weren't one of the major causes of this game being tough to watch is a joke. I was even getting annoyed with some of the whistles on KState.

So what was the injury story with Vanderbilt? “Biggest mystery injury” team of 2018 has a starting lineup up Markell Fultz, Kawhaii Leonard, and Jared Vanderbilt.

Again wasn’t aware we parse out certain team members to make it as if the team was 15-17. Stats say UK as a TEAM was 62.2%. What does Bruce Webber’s team have to do with UK’s FT shooting? They won the game.
