Highlands football does themselves no good playing in a district that includes Holmes, Harrison County, Bourbon County, Scott or whomever else is in that district. It hurts the gate number one and creates a lot of travel to play district football games.

I would bet there are a bunch of Highlands fans who would like to play up to 6A but the KHSAA only allows you to play up on class.

This is different logic for playing 5A from your previous post I commented on. When I read your previous post I felt you meant HHS needed to be challenged and 4A was not good enough. Now you reason that its the money and a CCH thing.

 

You can still schedule CCH and play them once like the last few years. In the past they had to travel greater distance to find teams that would play them. Now they are playing teams around NKY and the gates are better. I do not see this changing as long as the current coaching staff is in charge.

 

I still stand by the need to put the players and coaches first and play in the class their male student population supports.

For me, the sole deciding factor between 4a & 5a would be the district.

Looking for a balance considering travel and competition. Shorter travel and strong competition.

After that, it doesn't really matter which class.

Their non-district schedule will still be scheduled against the teams that challenge them and prepare for the post season.

The road to state in either class won't be a cake walk.

 

If the above is about the same in 4a and 5a, then let ego take the 5a route.

I remember a few years back when there was talk of HHS and CCH being in different classes. At that time, it would have appeared that the road to a state championship would have been easier for the Colonels without Highlands in the way. I was glad they remained in the same class. A state championship that doesn’t go through Highlands in some way doesn’t feel right. I’d imagine there is similar thought among Highlands folk.

That is the million dollar question. Who is in charge of making the decision so that when (okay Highlands fans, if) it doesn't go right we all know who should be fired.

I truly believe that the 3 people I mentioned are the ultimate decision makers in this entire process. I would assume that the 3 of them will put their heads together and come up with what they feel is best for the program. Not sure of the exact steps that need to be taken as far as petitioning to play up and/or what the deadline is to do so.

 

As for firing someone, not sure that will need to be done at least as it concerns the principal who again is serving on an interim basis for one year. I for one do not want the AD to make any decisions of this magnitude for any of the programs. Have to believe that BW is going to be the "final" decision maker in this entire process all things considered. Perhaps the Super will have to sign off on whatever the ultimate determination is.

I think you have summed all of this up in a nutshell and if it doesn’t work out others will go down with them by default.

FT Thomas has just been named the best school district in the state of KY and in the top 1% in the nation and you want a Superintendent to lose her job over a football team???? Seriously?
