Won't crack the top 4, because the powers-that-be would look bad.

Wow this is the shock of the bowl season. You’re telling me UCF could compete with Bama!?

You have to love it when a team outside the power conferences goes undefeated, while beating a pretty good team a the bowl game.

It just goes to show you that you don't have to recruit a bunch of 4 star player to compete. You just have to be able to evaluate talent well and have a solid coaching staff.

Since the inception of the New Years Six bowl games, the G5 participants are now 3-1 in the games they've participated in.

Jay Hatch responding to the Bill Hancock's defense of it's ranking of UCF.

UCF: ‘Can we join your conference?’

P5: ‘no’

UCF: ‘Can we at least play some of your teams?’

P5: ‘no’

UCF: ‘Look! We went undefeated!’

P5: ‘Join a better conference and play tougher teams!’

See the problem here?

UCF Athletic Director has announced they will hang a "2017 National Champions" banner in their stadium.

Since when did going undefeated mean you were the National Champion?

I understand the frustration from UCF faithful. Louisville was in that boat until they got into the ACC. But the fact of the matter is, they didn't play anybody to deserve a higher ranking. Yes, they beat Auburn, after a month off and a month focused ONLY on Auburn. Great win, doesn't necessarily mean you deserved to be in the playoff.

To be fair if UCF wants to call themselves national champions who are we to tell them not to. Alabama and Notre Dame each claim some mythical national championships of their own so why can’t UCF.

This is strictly my opinion but UCF would not have gone undefeated if they had played in a P5 conference. It’s nice when you have a month to focus on the one big game of the year such as the Auburn game, plus 100% motivation, but it’s another thing if you have to play Auburn during the season, followed the next weekend by Alabama, then Georgia the next. Or play Florida State, Clemson , Miami.... Or Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State....

More than likely had they been in a P5 conference they would have lost multiple times. This is all hypothetical though, with no way to prove it.

If they played Ohio State’s schedule they have at least 4 losses and according to most SOS stats OSU’s schedule was just slightly above average.

It is shocking a school of UCF's size is not in a Power 5 conference. That's a massive university.

Same with USF.

Same with USF.
Strange, though at least USF has been with the big boys but didn't make it in with the split. UCF has always been seen (and mostly played) like a mid-major.
