No chance he gets anything. He called it as its described in the rulebook and its a safety issue. However, I don't agree with his interpretation. He didn't blow the call as in not knowing a rule. IMO he simply saw it wrong.

Problem is he knew he saw it wrong and did not pickup the flag as they did on a later play. Mike Carey should never ref another game in his life. He is an absolute joke.

I didn,t think he did sound to confident. Yes he did sight thre rule but his voice waivered as though he knew he was in the wrong. If he is any kind of a man he will admit his error and retire graciously. Ask any self respecting ref how they want to be seen on the field and they will all say they don,t want to be seen at all. Not the case with Mike Carey!

I don't think he knew he saw it wrong. It just made a bad judgement call. He won't be the first offical, nor the last to ever do so. Despite today's call, I still think he is one of the NFL's best.

You called it. That ref knew he made a mistake, he could have very easily picked up that flag. Not man enough to do it though, thats a shame because he directly affected the out come of the game. That is sacrilige especially for the Head Ref on an NFL crew. He should be severly dealt with by the league, but I doubt it happens. If that guy has any pride in what he does he should admit his mistake, but I doubt it happens:mad: :mad:

I've obviously never officiated an NFL game, but I've done plenty of high school games. There's not an official out there, that won't admit that they've made more than their share of bad calls. We hate it afterward, but there is nothing that can be done after the fact. You are letting your emotions get the best of you, like I did earlier.

After that game, I can't sit here and watch the one that's on now. Time to walk off some steam at the grogery store... :walk:

The TD over-turned call IMO was something I do not understand.

 

When addressing the crowd the ref said that the receiver caught the ball and had both feet down in the field of play.

 

I contend his feet never touched the ground as he was vertical and even though he reached the ball across the goal line he never established himself on the ground with possession of the ball.

 

To me it is the same as a reveiver in the back of the endzone catching the ball with his legs up in the air, being flipped by the DB and then having the ball come out as he hits the ground in the endzone. No catch.

Clayton caught the ball, and did have two feet down in the field of play. He then lunged for the endzone, reached the ball over the goal line, and at that point it was a touchdown.

Yes the penalty call was bad, but I refuse to lay the loss on it. They played uninspired, dumb football.

:thumb: I agree, this about sums it up.:mad: Tampa Bay was due to play a decent football game and it came agaisnst us. Having said that there is no way the Bengals should had lost this game. Bad call / replay call or whatever.............we stunk!
