October 15, 200619 yr The defender did drive the QB into the ground head first!! That's not what is in question, to me anyways did he rough the passer is what is in question. The defender was just making a tackle is what I saw but the offical must have thought that he didn't have to drive him into the ground. His head hit the ground for sure. But how else are you gonna tackle him. I sure didnt look like he tried to slam it.

But it wasn't like he picked up the QB and piledrived him. Do you think that Cris Simms standing on the sidelines had some influence on the way this game was called. After he was almost killed in a game which roughing was not called, maybe Mr. Carey came up with a different understanding of roughing. Who knows.

This is football not tiddily winks, this kind of crap fires me up. I know the Bengals played terrrible but the refs should not decide the outcome of the game.:fight: :fight: :fight: :thumb:
October 15, 200619 yr Rule Question: On the sideline you must come down with the ball and maintain possession. I am assuming since he broke the plane that automatically turns into a TD, but why is it different. Also, one of the replays he appeared to juggle the ball. I thought it was a catch and a TD but that replay made me think they weren't going to overrule it. It has to be conclusive evidence and I thought with the camera angles we were watching that it wouldn't have been overturned.

October 15, 200619 yr Okay so heres what I know... The roughing call was terrible... horrendous... HOWEVER Why were we in that position? If you get a completion of over 40 yards from anywhere on the field you need to score 6 on that drive... Why are we relying on our defense to win games for us... Why does it take a whole half for us to figure out how to run block again? What I am saying is that we shouldn't have put ourselves in the position where one call makes the difference in the game... take care of business yourselves and you don't have to worry about what the guys in stripes are saying... With Thurman, Braham, Jackson, Henry, Perry, Perry, Simmons, and Pollack then they would have killed them. That's how the NFL works and you have to adjust, but that's a lot of guys out so losing to Tampa(on a bad call) was still a little shocking, but I thought it would be a close game.

IMO our 45 on the field today are overall better than their 45 on the field today, and we had chances to put ourselves into a position to where the game would have been out of reach multiple times (ex. multiple dropped interceptions, not scoring on a drive in which you have a play over 50 yards etc.)

October 15, 200619 yr Unfortunately the Bengals really needed to win today. With all of the injuries and a very tough schedule they could be in danger of not making the playoffs. It will be a shame if an officials call will have a direct affect on the outcome of their season.
