Enrollment doesn't make a difference in football? So your saying if I get to pick my team from 1600 kids I statistically don't have a better chance to succeed than If i pick from 300 kids? I find that really hard to believe. Whichever school your at that it doesn't bother do they play all 6A schools to prove this theory?

Statistically, yes. But, in reality, no. How many games has Dunbar lost to smaller schools? How many times has Raceland (1A) beaten larger schools? How many times has Beechwood (1A) beaten larger schools? How many times has Mayfield (2A formerly 1A) beaten larger schools?

 

I think many correlate larger enrollment with better football players. The truth is, having more students does not mean you will find more athletes, it just means you have more students. Just because Trinity and St. Xavier are large schools and happen to be very good at football can not be extrapolated to mean every large school is better in football.

Still don't believe I buy this argument. You basically used the top 5% of 1A teams for your comparison with one of the bottom 5% of a 6A school. Are there exceptions like these in football ? Of course . Let's compare the meat of both big enrollement versus small and I'll still take my chances choosing from large numbers . How would most normal small schools do against big schools week in week out not the 2 state finalists versus one of only schools to go 0-10 in entire state. Year in year out how would say a Raceland do against the top 10 teams in nky? Your Boone's, Cooper, Ryle,Highlands, Simon Kenton, Conner, Campbell. And I'm not talking 1 game a year I'm talking week in week out where injury numbers add up for smaller schools.

At SOME traditional football schools like NCC, Beechwood, Mayfield, Highlands, Danville, etc. a drop in enrollment is not really going to affect the football product in a linear fashion. A traditional football school that has 200 boys and 45-50 on the football team will probably still have 45-50 on the football team and do just as well when the enrollment is at 180. A non-traditional football school that has 200 boys and struggles to have 30 on the roster year after year might feel the enrollment drop to 180 and be lucky to get 25 on the roster. That same school could have an enrollment increase to 225 and still not get 30 kids on the roster. Enrollment drop or increase does not necessarily correspond to roster size and success at all schools.

His original quote was funny, I never seen how enrollment made a difference in football and I totally disagree. Your saying at a football rich school a drop of 20 kids won't change numbers on team and an increase of 20 kids at a bad football school won't change numbers. I 100% agree with you . But to throw a statement that enrollment in general doesn't make a difference at any school I don't agree. If I get 1400 kids in my school and you get 300 I'm going to say I'm going to beat you a lot more than you will beat me on average . What do you mean? There is a ton of talent an he went to NCC. He isn't goin to be head coach at covcath anytime soon. So why not take ur first head job at your Alma mater?
