All the Football Coaches salaries combined is $23,000. (It is Title IX information on the KHSAA web site). Not many "outsiders" are going to be willing to work with that low number.

 

Seeing these stipends blows my mind even more to read the posts I’ve seen on here in regards to people complaining or saying that dad’s coaching was a problem.

They have a vested interest, so what if it’s their son(s)? Find men, better yet find wives of men that would let their husbands go for that insult of pay for the amount of time spent from their own families to go spend it with other people’s kids. You can’t or at least it’s becoming hard and harder to find.

Par or better than most. Maybe one day these guys will get paid for their time and crap they have to deal with. You have jobs (premier) ones of late where only one or two current head coaches at other places have applied. Being a high school head football coach or any head coach, especially in this state, is one of the single most overrated “CEO” type spots on planet earth.

Maybe so. Let’s see them. They are public record; even if the other places are up to 30K for the total pool; it’s still crap.

 

Let’s say the NCC coach makes 9K which would be about par for a HC across the entire state right now. That leaves 14-15K for assistants. You’ll find many places (not just in NKY) that have only that and some with less.

I think you will find that is significantly less than a lot of NKY schools with traditionally good football programs.

 

Guessing you’re basing theirs off Highlands and Beechwood? Or maybe even CovCath; a private school who actually has their own facility and a 1st class one at that?

Life is all above choices also, but at some point this bull has got to meet in the middle. Pay these men what they are worth or be dang thankful for what they have.

I get that even the schools that pay double what NCC does still have coaches that are not compensated fairly for their time and efforts. And we know that public school systems are going to be able to pay more. The two public schools in NCCs district that have 1 win against NCC since the 90s pay more and those coaches still are not making what they should.

My point is when you are paying what NCC does you are not going to get some outsider that wants to stay for any length of time. You will need to get someone who is not in it for the money at all.

That is correct. How that is divided up we do not know as the KHSAA only needs to know the entire amount to compare salaries for Boy and Girl sports purposes.

Remember, just because an amount is budgeted doesn’t mean it is used.

Regardless of what the pay actually is, it's a part time gig. Coaches have other jobs and responsibilities. My point is that in order to have a successful program you have to have help from parents and alumni. I'm not talking about the complainers, I'm talking about the people that will roll up their sleeves and assist in whatever the coach needs. There are plenty of at NCC that will help.

 

Years ago I sat in a meeting with a local mayor about the use of that city's facilities. As I looked around the table every league director there (knothole, little league, soccer, softball, football) was an NC graduate. Everyone. We have always been willing to roll up our sleeves.

 

NCC is certainly at a crossroads in terms of its future and declining enrollment. But there are plenty of people that will work tirelessly so that they are successful.

I bet it is not 23,000.

Those numbers should be real numbers. This is federal Title IX required reporting. If a school is paying more than reported, wouldn't they be filing a false report?
