I know comparable scores mean nothing, but has Corbin and Boyle played?

 

They have not. Nothing really comparable on their schedules. Corbin has some common opponents with Danville and won by similar margins. But I don't see any common opponents with Boyle.

My opinion after the Owensboro Catholic game (I was not impressed with OC/MF’s 40 points was very VANILLA) was that MF didn’t tackle well enough, or run the football well enough, to beat CAL tonight. Well they did exactly that. This time of year, running the football well and playing stellar Defense is a recipe for a championship. I know Danville will be ready. They got me my last high school game.

Danville has dominated the overall series, but, several of those games were classics and could have gone either way. Those games were mainly in the late 80s and 90s, as these 2 teams have only played a couple of times in the 2000's with the last one either in 02 or 03, can't remember exactly, so, I wouldn't put much stock in the history, as most of these kids were in diapers the last time they played.. Both teams are high powered offensively and both teams play solid D.. Speed on both sides. Should be another classic battle.

 

They played in the semis 6 times from 2000 thru 2006. Ads lost to Btown in 2005 region finals. ADS were 2-0 at Mayfied and 3-1 at home. Mayfield won in 2002. Its really strange how one sided these games have been when you consider the 1st game was decided with a blocked PAT. The 2nd game was decided by a goalline stand, followed by an unlikely pass and then a D. Redd hilite run. The ADS have always seemed to get that key play vs Mayfield in the past. It will be interesting to see if that is still the case.

Might be my pick for the best championship game (Boyle vs Corbin is the other option)

 

I could see either one winning. Danville has some standout athletes but anyone expecting them to be hands down better than Mayfield’s has never seen a Mayfield team.

I'd love to see Danville win their first title since 2003 but at this point there are no easy games on the schedule. Mayfield is a good team to come out of a loaded Western bracket (and knock off the defending state champion to boot) so the Ads will have their hands full. I look forward to being in Lexington next week to see it.

Yep it was a semi State game. Danville won 27-0

I'll ask the same question I ask every week (because I don't know)....what kind of speed does Mayfield have?

 

From a 3rd party perspective, this Mayfield team is one of the fastest across the board that I have seen in a while. Since I'm no pro scout I cannot tell you if they have "elite" speed, but their whole team gets to where they are going in a hurry.

They got mine too! That's why I wanted that matchup lol different of a Mayfield team than their use to playing

I have a feeling this game is going to be a classic. Danville seems like a run away freight train but Mayfield is definitely up to the task. I think Danville will win this game but it will be close. Sometimes the team with the best player finds a way to win and Van Cleave is the best player in 2A and he will lead his team to victory.

How does one determine the best player? Just curious...40 time? Size? Number of stars set by recruiting gurus? I've heard several different opinions (Wright, VanCleave) but no reasoning.
