What do you call the stuff that is traditionally served with Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing or dressing?

Could someone please add a poll for this very important question?

Stuffing

I call it dressing. Thanks to whoever added the poll.

Unless you physically stuff it into your Turkey when you cook it, it's dressing.

So, what do you have when you have both mixed together? :D

Druffing.

I call it a travesty messing up perfectly good cornbread

I take ground lamb, pine nuts, allspice, and rice cooked with chicken broth and stuff it under the cooked turkey. It tasted marvelous.

I am heading to Michigan City in a few hours for a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner with the Lebanese side of the family. Those great aunts of mine are darn good cooks and they remember all the old recipes passed down from the old country.

Funny you should ask because I was just thinking about this this morning when I was making my bed.

Truth is I say both, and when I do I almost always second guess myself thinking perhaps it should be referred to the other way than what I just called it.

One day I just might find the peace of mind to accept that either way is acceptable, and to quit second guessing myself. :idunno:

Thankfully this conundrum seems to only be an end of the year puzzle, and with the new year I can go back to not caring about it for nearly another year.

Dressing is what it’s usually called in the part of Kentucky where I live. Always was called that by my parents and grandparents.

In local restaurants it’s listed as “dressing” on the menu boards.

You put dressing on a salad, you put stuffing in a turkey.
