And if it is true, then why are people questioning the coach? Isn't this what those knowledgeable Highlands fans we're expecting? If yes, then don't you hang with the coach and see what he does next year with talent back to normal levels?

The only thing I'm going to say is the Birds had the talent on the field to win this game, wasn't that obvious? HHS scored more points than any other team the Dragons played.

Took CCH a long time to get back on top where they are now. How many head coaches went through CCH before they found Eddie? How many previous HC's couldn't get it done and how many years were they there?

 

HHS will be back in a very short time. The future looks bright for the Birds.

 

I just don't think BW is that good at judging talent or play calling. New QB for the 1st two playoff games. How many other positions where the best player for that position was watching from the side lines? JMO.

Deaton was calling the plays not BW. He was in charge of the defense that gave up 359 points this season or 30 PPG. 468 points last season.

 

Last season they only recorded 3 wins in 11 games. Two of those wins were over woeful Grant Co and Boone Co. Let that sink in.

 

In all fairness though the Birds did improve this season a bunch. They won 6 games and probably should be 9-3 heading into next week's buzzaw.

Sometimes you all forget that there was another team. You just assume that the opponent played their absolute best game, so really, a couple of little tweaks and HHS should be in the playoffs next week. HHS is not 9-3 and isn't heading into next week's playoffs. SOHS did not play their best game either, but it was good enough to win.

Play calling was questionable all year and Use of personnel was questionable at many positions. You saw it play out at QB, but for those who KNOW the kids on the team, many positions could/should have played out differently. If the kids are put in the right positions to be successful they will be. Talent will be there. Do you realize in these “beat downs” , there were times when it was 5 sophomores on the field. Please tell me any year when there were times with 5 Sophomores 4 juniors and 2 seniors on a field for highlands varsity. It happened many times this year. these junior and sophomore classes are stacked! I’m very optimistic about next year when “lack of talent” won’t be allowed to be an excuse.

Guys. I think the play-calling by Deaton was not the issue. Players unfortunately just don’t execute at times. I feel that players overthinking was a big reason for the offensive woes this year.

Will Kevin Siple return? I know after this past year and being basically demoted to Videographer, It would be hard for me to stomach sitting through it again. But that's just me. What a wasted resource.
