I guess numbers don't go toward your count?

Not usually.

Great thread. I'm an even #/5 guy on volume and AC. I like number coincidences, especially at the gas pump, though I would struggle to call numbers good or bad.

I count stairs, though due to my history in marching band, the first step is with the left foot going up or down. I hate stairs with an odd number of steps.

I count steps between cracks in the sidewalk.

Firm believer in checking front right pocket, back right pocket, front left, back left.

Left sock, right sock, left shoe, right shoe.

That's about all I got.

Someone who GETS IT!

I'm sure all of us have something, and certainly some more than others, but let's hear some of your obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

I'm sure I'll think of others, but the one that comes to mind first is having my money in a specific order in my wallet: smaller bills in the front; larger bills in the back. And the face pictured on the bill has to be facing me, right-side up, when I open the wallet. Can't be any other way.

What say you?

All skittles must be separated by color before eating.

The little ring of condensation a cold glass leaves on a table or bar top. If I don't have a coaster to set it on, I will be constantly wiping that ring away every time I pick up the glass. Doesn't matter where I am.

I push chairs in when I get up from the lunch room or restraunt. Even though im only responsible for one chair. drives me nuts

If I see an ink pen not being used and it looks like this:

I absolutely have to push the top and make it look like this:

I agree with all of these. Here are some others of mine.

Everthing on on my desk must be neat and at a right angle. I do allow a perfect 45 degree angle for certain objects of my choosing.

Papers absolutely cannot have the little raggedy notebook edges.

Shirts put on hangers must be done so such that the front of the shirt is always on the left side of the hanger. It goes without saying that the hanger hook goes into the closet not facing out of the closet.

My classroom door must be completely shut or completely open. It cannot be "cracked" or half open. I simply cannot teach that way.

I never step on a boundary between pavers, and avoid all "cracks" if possible.

I have to to sit on the outer boundary of a room or I am uncomfortable. I prefer my back be to a wall.

Those s are the ones that come to mind first.

One of the biggest stressors on our (39 years and counting) marriage. Wife is left-handed and doesn't do it this (the obviously correct) way. I finally gave in, but it wasn't easy.

How do you guys make through a day without going crazy?? Some of this stuff sounds insane. I can’t think of a single thing that would qualify as making me OCD.

Me too! Sometimes I wish I was a little OCD!

I agree that I have no ocd tendencies. Couple of quirks, though. Like don’t touch my plate with food on it or drink from my glass.

Both of my parents were sticklers for organization and lived by the motto "A place for everything, and everything in its place". I understood this at a young age and wholeheartedly bought into it.

Though others might, I don't see it as OCD, I just see it as being sensible and organized. If you know where everything is you never waste time tearing the house apart, and pulling out your hair looking for it

When I was around 12 or 13 I went on a trip with my baseball team to an out-of-town tournament where we stayed in a college dorm for a few days.

To me it was just a no brainer that I would neatly place my clothing in the provided drawers within the dorm room immediately upon entering.

Somehow this was only a no brainer to me because within 15 minutes each kid on the team had their dorm room destroyed with their belongings strewn everywhere.

Was it just me being a meticulous little adolescent gay boy?

No...it was just them being uncivilized freakin' spoiled rotten slobs who couldn't function if their mommies weren't around to pick up after them!

I can relate to many of the things already mentioned here like pushing in your chair, having shirts hung in one direction, having things neat and straight on your desk, but at the end of the day these things are just wanting things to be neat and organized because as many others here can relate to, the busyness of chaos is an eyesore, and disturbing to witness.

Though I will force myself to have a regular schedule about it, I don't particularly like to clean my pad. I'm not too sure that many love the chore of cleaning either.

I keep my place organized to make that process all the more easier. If everything is in it's place, right there no matter how dusty things get at least it's tidy, and if it's tidy it's easier to have a weekly system of cleaning everything.

Sure it would appear that I'm a creature of habit, but it beats the hell out of if every time I'd go to clean I have a load of obstacles because my belongings have moved every time I've used them.

Nope..."A place for everything, and everything in its place".

Throughout my life for whatever reasons that life has tried to play tricks on me, I've had numerous friends who have been the complete opposite all the way to being extreme hoarders, and so much that eventually I just couldn't bring myself to ever step foot in their places again because of the stench and stink that I would carry with me in my clothing.

Sure I'll say hello if I bump into them, but I do whatever I can to avoid ever making plans that would also include having to ever walk into their homes.

I'm not exaggerating, some of these people have serious issues, and I'm pretty sure that it could be considered clinical.

I've just seen more of it in my lifetime that I ought to have, and while just simply being disgusting to me, it makes me a nervous wreak to have to see. I feel obliged to do something about it, and at times I have just to see people turn it back into hell within hours, and then I just have to give up.

I just moved and while some of my organization schematic had to change a bit considering the layout of the place, anything that I could keep organized the same way as before, I do.

Everything that is in the fridge is exactly in the same place in the new fridge as the old.

I make my bed the same way.

My music collection is organized extremely similarly as before.

My dish drainer sits in the same position and I have the same routine of cleaning my dishes immediately after eating.

If I brought a cabinet to the new place that was in the old place, the things in it are exactly where they were when they were in the old place.

Moving is a great time to lose and misplace stuff so the more that I can recreate same organizational habits all the better to avoid walking in circles forgetting where everything is when I'm going through my daily routine.

Sure, I can't typically express myself without using numerous words, and I guess that this can somehow be considered OCD, but unless I say what I'm trying to say, how else can I say it?

I typically have a "no stone unturned" approach thinking that without full explanation, I would otherwise be misunderstood.

I do realize however that many see long paragraphs and just move on to the next post, so in that I'm being misunderstood anyhow considering many readers might not even bother, which I suppose I can't say that I blame them.

Not sure whether it's OCD or not, just what i learned at an early age:

Keep beverages at the bottom of the fridge, turn a steak no more than twice, wash from head to toe. Seems like mere common sense to me. Some of you I will pray for tonight!

:thumb:

Even numbers on car temp, radio volume, TV volume, computer volume, etc.

Some mentioned even number of steps between cracks on sidewalks but I'll also take even number of steps on the sidewalk, then even number on the grass to get to the street or vice versa.

Bills in the wallet--right side up, front facing, in numerical order.

Skittles are separated but not M&M's, although for both an even number go in my mouth.

Thanks for sharing! Glad I'm the only crazy person here!

I thought I had a million idiosyncracies and OCD symptoms....until I read this thread. Man, now I realize I don't have a care in the world compared to some of y'all.

Counting compulsions. I'm not sure the BGP servers have the capability to handle the post that would ensue should I elaborate.

It would make a B-Ball-Fan post look like a haiku.

Perhaps I was mistaken.

If I remember closing the garage door and I can see it in my mind, I cannot go to sleep unless I walk down the stairs, into the basement, and look at it. I am 100% positive that it is shut, but unless I look at it before I hit the sack, I cannot sleep. I'll fight it for twenty minutes and then get mad at myself for waiting twenty minutes to go and check.

I agree with all of these. Here are some others of mine.

I don't mind stepping on cracks. People who avoid them are weird.

But when I step on one and I can feel it through my shoe, I try to step on another one with the opposite foot as soon as possible to make sure things that things "are even". Even better if I can locate the crack on the same part of the sole as the first one.

Nothing weird about that.
