Does anyone else see the Trump tax proposal as a huge money grab for him and his family? Think how much his family will save in taxes by eliminating the estate tax.

And that is the exact reason why I don't like the Cowboys. They got stuffed down our throats by TV and it turned me against them.

In those days you had one football game per time slot to choose from if you wanted to watch an NFL game. I used to call CBS the Cowboys broadcasting station.

It amazes me how much everyone gets sucked into all the politics.

 

Used to see sports as the escape time. Now not even that is free from the constant agendas.

I remember well, it's what made me the football fan I am today. They did that because most people wanted to watch the Cowboys more than anyone else, hence America's Team was born. Right, @mcpapa? :woot: :wave:

Not going to take the bait and start a debate. I will only say I don't know if Trump is gaining votes but I do believe he is doing what the people who voted for him want him to do.

Speaking of traveling, who likes to go leaf-peeping in the Fall? Where can you see some of the best colors a short drive away (3-5 hours)?

 

Almost anywhere in Kentucky. Beautiful views everywhere, whether I am driving to and from work, or outside my back door. One of my first impressions when I moved here 10 years ago is that Autumn is gorgeous in Kentucky.

My wife and I are thinking about heading out of town next weekend to try to see some fall colors. We've never been to southeastern Kentucky (at least not past the I-75 area). Not sure where to go but likely up into the mountains, maybe all the way to Pikeville. We're just not sure where to go or what to do. Probably find a state park or somewhere where we can do some light hiking. Went to natural bridge a couple years ago and Cumberland falls last year. So hoping to discover something new.

I know that it was something that never used to consume me that much, but somehow lately I've fallen into the pit of misery along with the general public.

 

I'm actually rather disappointed in myself to not let it be what "those people" do, and now it seems that I'm one of "those people". :lol2:

 

I've even wrote a song years ago about staying away from the news, but now I'm all junked out on it. I thought that I was above all that, but I guess just like any addiction it can bite you when you'd least expect it.

 

I think that there is a need for people to get consumed about something in their lives, and it changes as you go. On my facebook feed, the "friends" that are constantly discussing politics are those that have more time than I do to follow every nuance. They also have the emotional energy to get worked about about.

Hey G, why don't you and I head down to South America(Chile) in July '19 to watch the total eclipse? Some of the cruises are already sold out !!! Can you imagine seeing the eclipse from the Atacama Desert in Chile? What a view! The Paul Gauguin South Pacific cruise( Papeete to Gambier Islands, Pitcairn Islands, Rangiroa, Bora Bora, Taha'a, Huahine, Moorea) has been booked for months now.

Monty Hall, iconic '''Let'''s Make a Deal''' host, dead at 96

 

Game show icon Monty Hall, who co-created and hosted the original Let’s Make a Deal, has died of heart failure at the age of 96, the New York Times reports. He passed away on Saturday in his Beverly Hills, Calif. home.

 

Hall launched Let’s Make a Deal in 1963. It first premiered as part of NBC’s daytime line-up before moving to ABC in 1968, where it continued through 1976. A syndicated version of Deal aired on and off through the 1970s and 80s, before returning to NBC for a brief run from 1990-91. The show was eventually revived with host Wayne Brady in 2009, with Hall putting in occasional guest appearances.

 

In addition to Let’s Make a Deal, Hall headlined various other game shows, including The Hollywood Squares and Password All-Stars.

 

Hall is survived by his three children, including actress Joanna Gleason and TV producers Sharon Hall Kessler and Richard Hall.
